I am 58 years old. Been playing with flight simulators since they first came out. Atari ST, Amiga then PC. I have enough joysticks to start a museum..lol. Right now I am using the Warthog throttle, VKB Mamba joystick and Saitek pedals. My other favorite controller setup is all CH. And yes, that's how Mongo rolls. :aok

I cannot comment on longevity yet. The metal finish is nice. The plastic handle is light but also well finished. All my buttons, hats and dials work flawlessly. I checked everything with the diagnostic tools they provided. I initially could not get the pinkie to be recognized and noted it was mapped to the keyboard m. Seems like someone was playing with it and forgot to set it to default. That was easy to fix once I figured out the configuration tool. It came with two extra springs (I believe of different tension of the ones already in) and two Allen type wrenches to mount the grip and to take it apart if need to. When you move the joystick around it feels like the CH joystick with the four corners but a bit stiffer. Not as bad as my old Warthog which I have dismantled several times and finally screwed up by cutting the spring in half (way too much btw). I guess if you are heavy handed you can clamp it or bolt it down. I just don't want to mess up the nice black finish of the base place with shiny metal trim. :D

I still have more to tinker with. (PA Dutch thing)

A friend of mine who plays IL2 CLOD and Rise of Flight has the Cobra, which is currently going for 46.00 euros on the VKB Europe site and is in stock.  I think he said he paid around 30 euros for shipping.  It's a nice piece of kit but nothing I'd give up my current CH Fighterstick and Throttle for.

AFAIK none of the VKB sticks have force-feedback.

The mamba is not FFB.  As a FFB junkie, I know of no currently produced sticks that are.   :cry

Have you considered trying to get an old MS FFB2 sidewinder from eBay?  That was the only FFB stick I ever owned and it was very nice.  I sometimes regret getting rid of it.

If these sticks are any good CH will lose a lot of business :old:

Due to the fact their quality control has ceased to function because the company is now french :old:

My brand new throttle needed to be put together when it arrived :old:

For those interested in these sticks it looks like the new Black Mamba will be available 2Q of 2014.  Looks like the Thrustmaster Warthog adapter and handle extention kits are now available as well.

I am thinking about buying one of these things.  They look very nice.
