The Help Channel has always been abused in this way since it was created.  More people use it as a secondary Channel 200 than for help and those that do use it to get some help are often drowned out by those using it as a normal comm channel.

For those that don't know how to disable the Help Channel, here it is.

In the Chat text buffer, right click on the "All" tab and then select Edit Settings and then check the Help Channel box.  This will filter out the Help Channel.

Disabling the help channel doesn`t do any good to it`s original purpose. The help channel was pretty descent until recently when some individuals started to abuse it. I wish pointless chatter on the help channel would be considered worthy of a punishment.

Crabby,

You might want to back off on the Help channel. Last night a new player asked a question on help and no one answered thinking it was another bored vet looking for a joke. The guy had to ask on green channel before everyone realized he was serious. I enjoy that the help channel is PG and a lot of good natured fun versus ch200. Last night showcased the unintended consequence of taking it over as the knight's open mic comedy channel.

You proved a country only goofball channel can be fun as long as the goofballs keep it clean. Maybe Hitech can put in a funny color country only goofball channel after this. Our new players deserve better when they ask an honest question.

Still, thanks for the few days of open mic giggles and grins.

If you people really want a better community, you have to take some responsibility and police it yourself. If you see someone using the help channel for anything other than help, report them. If they continue, report them. Send an email to HTC for further more permanent consequences.

If enough people put in a small effort, everyone will benefit.

Now only if they'll change it back to what it was - Or at the very least separate the channel to keep the already cluttered country channel uncluttered... One has to severely expose the problem to advocate a change

I don't think I've ever seen the help channel.

That because you had to have it "tuned" in the radio buffer, that is until the last update!  HTC made help channel country specific instead of arena wide, the unfortunate reality is now in the training arena if a player logs in on any country but bishops the trainers cant see their help questions.

As I understand it Hitech is looking to make it an arena flag, that would allow the trainers to set it so as to be able to see the help channel reguardless of the country.

At least I hope thats the plan.
