anti-personnel bombs.  Here is another picture of a P-47 loaded out with anti-personnel bombs.

The net covered runway is interesting. Was this pic taken in the PTO?

these are armor penetrating bombs designed to drop on convoys of tanks to penetrate the top (weakest armor) in mess...we should have this in game, as far as i know IL-2 were also capable of carrying like 30 or those...

Germans introduced the 8.8 lb SD-4HI cluster bomblet, which had a hollow charge warhead that could penetrate as much as five inches of armor.
78 SD-4HIs were packed into 1,100 lb containers and were used heavily by Ju-87 Stukas

It's a M27 anti-personnel cluster bomb.

Seems like a 500lb bomb would do far more damage than those oversized hand grenades.

You had a wider dispersal area with these cluster munitions compared to a single 500lb bomb.  Each bomb was 90lb.

The Il-2 was capable of carrying 280 2.5 kg bombs immediately on the bomb-bay folds, or 4x48 in four cassettes. The PTAB 2.5 was capable of penetrating 60 to 70 millimeter tank armor

That's the AN-M41 20 pound frag bomb. The M27 Ack mentioned is a bigger 90 pound bomb.

Those are dumb bombs. God look how stupid they look. Stupid bombs. Real fighters don't be carrying bombs.
