« on: May 25, 2014, 10:50:11 AM »
there have been posts in the past about inactive players...and that they should be disco'ed after so many minutes in the tower........so why couldnt inactive players simply go to a quiet field and get in a field gun and then go afk...with no afk showing on their name???   hmmmmmm??????    how would you thwart that??? hmmmmmmm?????   :rofl     let me guesss all active players will be discoed every so and so minutes???   :rofl

Determining inactivity isn't a tech hurdle regarding this wish.  Not in flight and/or no stick or key inputs for (insert time) can't be difficult for the system to detect.

Bounce them to mid-war, that way they don't complain about being kicked out and having to restart.
They're casting their bait over there, see?

Hop in field gun.
Miscalibrate your stick.

I don't think it would be appropriate to start another thread on the subject. So I'll post my opinion here.

Would it work if we had the ability to check a box (like we do to say "AFK") that would take us off the ENY list. Creating a new category.  Inflight, in tower, and AFK.  If you have no movement for over 10 minutes you are considered AFK (if you are not in a gv, manned gun or in flight at the time, like in a 2 hour climbout).    When you come back to the game, you uncheck the box, so now you are back.  Then, you must wait up to 10 - 30 seconds before leaving the tower so you can be re-calculated into the ENY system.  So it would treat you as though you just logged on/in.

When the player has no movement for 10+ mins, it will give a pop-up (akin to the alt-f4 popup) that says "You are regarded as afk (brief explanation of the above), uncheck the box provided to be able to fly again.

If we have something to show we will & do post shots, if we have nothing new to show we don't.

the afk box after 10 mins is an idea...a bad idea.  what if you have an m3 or goon hidden near an enemy town and it took along time to drive there, and your waiting for your friendly mission to come in and white flag the town and just as your about to go into the town, a box pops up that you have to deal with...........this sounds like the box we use to have for a request to join your plane that would pop up right in the middle of the screen.....while you were dogfighting,lol......it could cost you the base capture.  how many base capture have been lost by literally 1 second? due to the town popping or an enemy strafing your last troop going in the map room. and you would be saying"if that darn box hadnt popped up and cost me time to deal with we could have had that base!!!"....sounds like a good way to get more people to plat...NOT :rofl

If you are in an M3, you would be "in flight" so the option to set yourself as "Inactive" wouldn't be there, so no popup to start rolling again.

then why bother, you can just spawn an m3 in a rear base and nothing will change.

The way I see it, as primitive as it is,  players pay for their subscriptions and if they want to stay logged in for whatever reason, then so be it. I am sure this isn't going to be popular with some

Agreed, but Tinkles idea was to allow voluntarily setting yourself inactive.  Makes sense to me.  You stay logged in but your presence doesn't add to ENY issue for your chess piece.  No one gets forced to do anything and no reason to buy a trained monkey to get around anything.  Doesn't fix the guys that stay logged in and walk away to go golfing without caring or realizing they left themselves logged in, but allows players that want to stay logged but not add to the ENY, an option.  I don't think folks who stay logged in are doing it with hopes of limiting their own country's plane choices.

That said, ENY doesn't bother me.  I like flying a lot of the planes that are always available and usually tank in a Panzer F.
