Update from Hi Tech
« on: June 09, 2014, 04:32:06 PM »
Could HT inform the community on what is happening and what to expect in the future?

I expect several board members will insist this is none of our business. Others will note they are working on new graphics software, etc. We are aware of this. The question many (most) are wondering is about marketing and the declining numbers. Any updates or information would be appreciated. And let me add, while we are not "the board of directors" for HT in the corporate world quarterly reports, etc are the norm.

The last time this came up on the threads someone noted that HT had other sources of revenue and AH was a minor component of the whole. If so, is AH not a priority? If we disappear will it not matter, or be of minor consequence?

Just trying to get a sense of what the future holds. I am in the process of supporting a JROTC unit with cadets who are intersted in learning the concept of flight, ACM, team and leadership development, etc as a small part of their cadet training. If AH disappears I will need to find other options, which candidly do not exist as flight simulators.

Thanks in advance and please flame away for those who must. I'm trying to find a 15 month plan for about 30 other people and don't want to get halfway down the path and have to scrap it altogether due to market failure or business model changes. Any information will be appreciated.

The best thing anyone can do is not complain and keep paying the subscription. I'm actually thinking of resubscribing in the near future.

All this talk of the sky falling is doing my head in.  You've seen all the youtube videos, it all looks pretty impressive and HTC will release it when it is done.   Not some half completed bodge job (cough WT).

You say numbers are down?  but for someone who regularly finds enough to shoot at with 50 people in the MA you have nothing to complain about at US times.  The competition doesn't compare, so get them cadets in the DA and last one alive is a sissy.

I've come from a game that died out, I left 4 years before it finally went KAPUT in the knowledge that the people in charge were morons and the owner clearly didn't have a long term plan.  I'm very glad to say HTC have always been on the money in my eyes.  Yes all the updates could come thicker and faster but I'd rather have a product that we can still very much enjoy until it is ready.

I'm not complaining the design at all. I do worry about marketing and "enlistment" is way down. I would love an update from them. Yes, the graphics look great and should be awesome Yes, standard military time of two weeks.

Any updates beyone graphics and 2-weeks? Marketing plan?

Let's hope!

If I get my way the 30 +/- cadets will add to the presence during certain hours. And over time, we are going to challenge other JROTC and ROTC units to squad duels and joint missions. No doubt we'll have some Plebes that want to learn the finer art of biscuits, tea and Spits. At which point we'll reach out to The Few....

I just want to make sure we have a realistic simulator to train them on, 'stall deliminator' set to off!

A couple of weeks ago Hitech did some commenting on the update process, and why he doesn't say a lot about it:

Yes. I read that thread and it is great that they are working on eye candy and I noted this. The question of life or death in the business world is that of market. If you lost a market you can have the best eye candy in the world, you're still dead. Infact, many sucky products thrive in this world because they have great marketing. In the political arena great candidates almost NEVER win, great campaigns always do. This is why individiuals with horrible character get elected, they spent the money to hire the right campaign manager.

I love that they are working on eye candy. That aside, what other updates do they have specifically around how they intend to keep the product alive. It is the campaign that counts.

I understand it's not a quick process, but I think overhauling the rest of the AH1 models is a great place to start, as there aren't many left but they remain eyesores. I honestly avoid flying them, especially the F4F which is one of my favorite planes of all time. Flying in the P40C with the updated cockpit for the Pearl Harbor scenario was an awesome and much more immersive experience than had I been flying a 2d cockpit model, in my opinion.

I would think at the very least they want to update the graphics and planes/gvs before they do any advertising. Making sure everything looks top-notch etc, before throwing it out there.

just wondering about one thing.  why would they want to discuss their marketing strategy with you?  I mean if you go to arco gas station, do you ever write to their corporate hq asking about their marketing strategy?

I work at a steel mill and one thing for sure is they wont discuss their marketing strategies with anybody that doesnt need to know.  they'll tell us in general terms what it is, but discussing it?  what is the point, we arent involved in it, we have no saying in it.  and basically it really isnt our business.  just like sorry to say but ah marketing isnt your business either.

I work at a steel mill and one thing for sure is they wont discuss their marketing strategies with anybody that doesnt need to know.

However, if a new customer arrived on the scene with the possibility of bringing 30 more customers with him....and wanted assurances that the mill would be able to fulfil the needs of said 30 customers for many years to come....

However, the idea that someone would want assurances that the company will still exist in a years time is purely the fault of 'The sky is falling brigade'.
