88mm Gun Sight

Would be nice to have one. It would be better than cutting off a little corner of a post-it note and sticking it to the screen which is what I do now. Thought about printing a reticle on clear acetate and taping to the monitor lol.

That sight isn't meant to help you shoot down AC. :lol  It's the AT sight.  I am curious if the 88 was so inaccurate in the AT role in real life as it is in AH. :headscratch:  In AH, the 88 has a MASSIVE amount of scatter, even at short ranges.  I've read a few mentions about how deadly it was, especially at long ranges.  Ours on the other hand, feh. :headscratch:

Yeah, was trying to shoot an m4 at about 1.5k.   The only thing I know is the round is going SOMEWHERE in that circle, instead of the accurate sites of any of the other tanks we have.

 The German 88mm anti aircraft gun came with a ground sight to engage ground targets. It was part of the TOE (Table of Organization and Equipment) of the guns. Also that 88 turned much faster than our 88 in the game. How about a wheeled gun carriage so we can tow that 88 out to the field behind a prime mover. Maybe that will spice up the ground game since our 88mm is almost worthless against aircraft in the game.  :D

Most German AAA guns were all hand cranked & had two speeds high & low. HTC programmed the Wirbel & Ostwind at the higher speed.

You can see in this video just how much faster the rotation speed is at the higher gear compared to AHII low gear.

No kidding. The gun traverses at a much faster rate than what we have in game. The anemic blank rds they're firing are a disappointment though. The recoil should be fierce just sitting on tires like that.

Time to traverse 360 degrees:

     High gear  33.90 sec
     Low gear   69.79 sec

Time to elevate from minus 3 to plus 85 degrees:
     High gear  15.02 sec
     Low gear   25.90 sec

Hitech could give us a direct fire equivalent from the panzer optics. The direct fire optics for the 88 moves a pointer on the direct fire quadrant scale in response to the elevation dial and range dials. To which then the barrel is manually elevated to match with it's elevation marker on the quadrant scale.

The person eyeballing through the sight depending on the type of sight either has a built in range dial or has to judge range to the target by using the Mil references built into the reticle. Hitech can either give us range marks like the panzer optics or elevation degree marks to which we are responsible to know the range from a lookup table or practice against the offline target.

Our current direct fire optic is not the least bit historically accurate.

In addition, please fix having our faces rammed into the ground when we fire vertically. That is usually my best chance to get a kill since the aircraft distance is relatively constant when directly over head, but I always loose sight of the target and shell bursts.

The 88 should have a command and gunsight mode like in gvs, a high slew rate in command mode and slow (fine) in gunsight mode. The entire sight had a deflection adjustment of +\- 250 mils which is probably how they adjust for range, unlike the adjustable sights found in german gvs.
