When you think about it. What would be even better is the ability to place 88 where they have a tactical relevance to actually defending bases from GV attacks. The 88's and 17lb more often are tank fodder unless by accident the field they sit on is oriented so they have a meaningful tactical line of fire. Our GV fields are setup more to encourage playing a mini Quake Tourney on the property rather than enabling the owners to defend themselves with all of the tools provided.

I doubt Hitech really intended the 88 on airfields to be a tank deterrent as much as a bomber\fighter deterrent. Also for shooting at bombers we could use some form of the Stereoscopic Director 36 in the gunner's view. Hitech says he gave the GV's commander mode to make up for the lack of crew. So give the 88 and 17lb a commander mode to make up for the lack of crew. It took a crew to coordinate the aiming of the 88 in direct fire and AA fire modes.

Even the 5inch has HUD range info which I use to kill water level fighters and bombers at 6000yds. I use SEA Mode to kill PT. SEA Mode in the 8 inch cruiser\shore bat is almost cheating it's so accurate. I can sink CV from the shore battery 29-31k yards using SEA mode if the mist isn't too thick when I turn off the horizon.

I understand the 37mm being a Kentucky Windage gun with it's iron sight. It is goofy that the 88 for all of the complex aiming technology issued as standard equipment, has optics in the stone age compared to the 17lb in our game.

+1 Brilliant!!!! God Please!!! I literally have a clear plastic ruler statically bonded to the lower right hand corner of my screen in order to get a better cluster; knowing that a sure shot is dam near impossible without a reference point.

The fact that we can't tow these BOGGLES THE MIND!!!   Let's get 'em out there in the farms and hill tops in batteries where they belong! My God; can you even imagine what one well perched gunner could do, much less 3 to 5 working together!  Tow 'em out there! Give 'em a 15 to 30 second setup and take-down time! Tow 'em with any vehicle that does not have a "Commanders" position and let it be gun position 7 so you're still linked to the vehicle!  Hell, make it harder, make it so you have to have a friend tow you somewhere out of his way, or a friend with supplies or AA capabilities!  Dear God just DO IT!

While you're at it lets get some towable long & short barreled howitzers.  Let them use land mode targeting like ship guns use.

I'll settle for an M7 Priest.

You can use sea mode from the shore batt?
