If someone could critique this fight for me please, trying to get my head round the 38g. Had a great amount of fun in this one, neither of us ended up with a kill, and please be aware I use Track IR, so your not going to see my head movements.

About halfway on, you were in that roundy-round and should have put your nose skyward.  Same thing with the flat circle on the deck at the end.  If you have to, do a shallow dive in the turn for some speed and then go up.  The 38G handles great when slow but you really need to try to get above the 51 and force him on the defensive, while you still have enough alt to catch him when he runs.

And how can man die better, than facing fearful odds.
For the ashes of his fathers and the temples of his Gods."

Thanks Caldera, one of my squaddies made the same observations - much appreciated.

I'm still stuck on suck factor 10, but that bird is so much fun to fly.

First merge you declined to follow, the P-51 never exceeded your max speed. A nose down turn would have been an aggressive move for position.

Second merge you didn't lead turn. You generally lead turn a merge.  That means start turning before the pass.

You go nose to nose twice without gain. You could have lead turned to improve your angles or used lag pursuit, pointed behind the 51, to gain position to set up the shot. You finally do this in a vertical turn only because your nose won't come up as fast as you want. You keep trying for the crossing shot when you don't have the turn rate to make it.

At the end you were late going to the low yoyo but it was the right move.

General advice is to fly lag pursuit for adequate position before you go for the crossing shot. Also practice early turns in the merge to learn the timing.

Enjoyable. :)

I laughed after a couple of the 30mm shots.  You make it look effortless.

Plink. Boom.  Next...
