Computer Trouble
« on: August 20, 2014, 10:27:52 AM »
I have been having some problems with my computer.  It seems that all of sudden it will shut down on me like some turned the power off.  After 5-10 minutes you can start it up and it will run fine for a  little while and then just shut down ... Any suggestion on what maybe wrong with it.

Check your fans.  Make sure they are running and the heat sinks are not clogged with dust.

Yepp, the symptoms are typical for an overheating system. Fans, heat sinks, power supply, video card (if it's a boxed one with a hidden heat sink). Other than heat, it may be a cold join in your motherboard chips - which also is a heat related problem but of another kind. They mostly seem to occur in laptops though.

I've got an older system by today's standards that still runs the game well by my standards.
