NATO is America, which means we will go golfing, or condemn violence in Missouri.

Germany has responded by very quietly approving numerous coal mines and extending licenses for coal produced electricity. Europe is getting off of Russian/Ukrainian natural gas. This is seen as both a necessity as well as a foreign policy move to harm Russia.

France responded by selling a naval ship they had just finished, for Russia. Russia purchased the ship several years back though NATO, UK, USA and several others had strongly encourage France to withhold delivery pending Russian activity in the Ukraine. France went ahead anyway.

The US did respond to France by penalizing France's largest commercial bank almost $10 billion for doing business with countries the US has embargoes, read Iran. France is threatening to begin taking their trade of US backed securities (aka the Dollar) in response.

Two months ago China and Russian inked a massive development, and delivery contract for natural gas.

Should we talk about what the Chinese, Japanese, South Koreans, North Koreans or doing?

Yes, I like golf, too.

PS Does this seem like the years prior to WW1?

Another note, one of these "Ukrainian seperatist" was identified as a Russian Colonel. It is reasonable to expect that many of these are in fact Russian regulars doing exactly what US Special Forces have done since the 1960's.

NATO won't be able to handle a ground war with Russia.

Right now Russia can't handle a major war against anyone. European NATO forces outmatch the Russians in every category but nuclear, but if it comes to that it will be a Pyrrhic victory for the Russians. Europe actually has more of everything military than the USA except naval and nuclear.

The EU has about 1.5 million men on active duty as we speak, and that is on a peace footing. My tiny country alone has the capacity to call in about one million reservists since we have a conscription system. Every able bodied man (and as of last year also women) has to serve one year in the armed forces. The USA has about 1.3 million men on active duty, including the mighty US Navy.

Gibberish!

Trillions of dollors were pumped into the former Soviet Union when the Communists lost the economic cold war (ie the arms race)

The Russians are part of the economic system now and is owned by the US because of this :)

Yes North Korea is going to invade Iceland next week :old:
