You can increase crew skill with chocolate, coffee etc. condiments that you can buy. You can make your tank run faster and turret turn faster with gold (120 octane gas) etc. Are you claiming to have no knowledge of such features?

All of these things can be bought with gold or credits.  The only real advantage to using premium is it increases the rate you gain exp and credits.  You can get plenty of gold through events and clan wars.  You do not know what you are talking about.

No, you don't know what you're talking about. There are many perks that can only be paid by gold. 120oct gas is one example. You can get only 100oct using credits.

and I do understand the mechanics of the game and why they use them.  their maps are only like 1k meters by 1k meters.  and this arent theoretical game limitations these are facts imposed by map sizes graphic detail and amount of players.

semp

That's total BS. The map size is a design choice and it has nothing to do with technical limitations. WOT has short rounds with matched up players and having a large map would be really detrimental to gameplay because it would mean that players could wander around for hours in the slow tanks without finding a single enemy. The compact maps are designed to give instant action while allowing some strategic moves.

http://wiki.wargaming.net/en/Consumables

From the WOT Wiki...

100-octane Gasoline    5,000 credits

105-octane Gasoline    50 Gold or 20,000 Credits

Could you tell me more about this 120 oct gas?  You seem so knowledgeable and I can't seem to find info about it anywhere.

I'm no cheerleader for WOT but accurate info is helpful.

You are correct I apologize. It's 105 oct and it seems that on the selection menu it shows only gold as option but once you select it, it lets you to switch it to credits. I was under the impression that it was available only for gold. In practical terms these 'perks' can only be maintained with gold anyway since having them installed during battles makes you bleed credits faster than you can earn them.

But that fact doesn't remove the gold-only premium tank types which are a bit like perk planes in AH.

Fair enough.  There was a time where you needed gold to buy certain items but you can obtain gold through clan wars or events instead of paying for it.  The point being is you can pay to advance faster but you are not paying to win. Bottom line is you can do just as well as anyone else without paying any money for the game or items in the game.  You just better play well or you will lose credits on higher level tanks since they are less profitable to run.

But that fact doesn't remove the gold-only premium tank types which are a bit like perk planes in AH.

Please point out the gold only premium tanks that are like perk planes in AH.  In my experience owning several of them and all I have ever known from forums and talking to those who own the ones I don't have, the truth is they are for the most part equal to and mostly inferior to non gold tanks of their tier.  The real benefit of these tanks is they earn more credits per battle and just recently have increased exp earnings for the crews.  You can also transfer crews from similar non gold tanks without penalty to help train them up.  In short, your statement here, too, is factually inaccurate.  In AH, perk planes are perked because they are superior in many regards to non perked planes.  The perk costs help regulate their use.  In WOT, almost all the gold tanks have average win rates but have earnings and exp bonuses.  You can not buy gold tanks and increase your win rate through them.  You can only gain better exp and credits bonuses vs non gold tanks of the same tier.

Perhaps you're right. The game must be full of cheats then because they do stuff that's not possible using any of my tanks. Especially the rapid fire weapons seem to penetrate every armor even the heavys without problems.

There is nothing that will convince you.  You are making a religious argument.  I'm just trying to point out the facts for the benefit of all.  In all honesty, you can criticize the game in many respects, just like any other.  Your points so far though have not been based on facts.  Most all of the criticisms of the game mechanics are not unfair if you understand the game mechanics.  They are equally fair and unfair to all equally.  Now, if you just suck, then don't blame the game.

The fact remains that using money you can achieve things easyer and faster and without money you have to work and spend hours to achieve the credits. So the pay to win aspect is absolutely correct.

If AH was pay to win, you could buy perk points with money and fly around in a Tempest all day.

In the case of WOT, you can play the game in it's entirety without paying a dime if you choose. You can not do that with AH.  I'm not criticizing the AH business model, I'm just saying you are unjustly belittling another business model based on bias.

You can obtain plenty of gold without paying a dime for it.  If you choose not to obtain gold through clan wars or events, you can pay for it.  Having gold makes some things easier but there is nothing you can obtain with gold that you can not earn otherwise.  You can't buy anything with money that you can't get through other means.  Your example is flawed.  By definition it is not a pay to win game.

you are wrong again.  if you have a premium account you get 50% more xp and 50% more credits.  but if you suck you arent gonna advance faster than somebody that takes the time to learn and shoots without missing and doesnt have a premium account.  to get more xp and more credits you actually have to cause damage.
