If Aces turned off icons,

... nobody would be able to differentiate between a Rook and a Bishop 109 ;)

Okay hahahahaha... "If Aces turned off Plane ID/Continuously Computed Range To Target"... or even JUST turned off enemy icons....

Either way, it wouldn't work... and the AvA is always a ghost town, unfortunately.

I like Beer, Wine, and Liquor, okay?! GOSH.

You wouldn't be able to tell the difference between a 109 and Spitfire until you were almost right on top of him, either.
Ron White says you can't fix stupid. I beg to differ. Stupid will usually sort itself out, it's just a matter of making sure you're not close enough to become collateral damage.

Exactly, what? That's NOT how it should be..

found this awesome video of Cliffs of Dover https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v6u4JxgE2S4

I would have watched that if it were 2 hrs long......just incredible.

Don't know much about IL2.  How are the flight models?

From what I've seen, fairly good

Nah, you're right bro... every pilot could identify friend, foe, make, model... from at LEAST 6k out.

My bad.

Nowhere did I say anything at 6000 yards (although you could sure as hell tell the difference between a 4-engine and single-engine aircraft, while BOTH are just indistinct dots at 6k in-game), but in AH you're lucky to be able to ID outside 400 yards without the icons. I can sure as hell pick up color and model of a CAR at that distance.

This has been discussed I don't know HOW many times. No icons for most of our hardware is the equivalent of being legally blind and is LESS realistic than having those counters.

Thanks Rat, Im downloading it now. And I agree, there is a place for both games cause neither really competes with the other. What AH offers no other game can and I do love the flight model in it and the huge battles when they happen. I also love the assortment of aircraft in AH. But Im going to give IL2 another try. Even buy BOS.

The download wasnt one big file. Its 4 zips, 3.1 mod/installer + 3.00, + 4.3, and finally 4.312 + mod + installer.zip. There is also a large RAR file which I gather is the entire shebang. Im assuming the series has to be installed in order, or is it just one file? None of them are 3.2 gigs. The RAR is the largest at 2.2 .

Im asking first cause I had an issue with a mod for a race game and the problem was install order. Thank you.

If you go here: http://teamfusion.theairtacticalassaultgroup.com/ the very last link at the bottom is the entire thing.  If you download all 5 individually you have to install them in that order.  As long as you install them sequentially as their numbers state (3.0, then 3.01, then 4.0, then 4.3, then 4.312, you're fine either way).

Yeah I did download the entire large file on the bottom and it came out as it did. Not one file but 5 cause theres a 2 gig limit right?

Thanks Rat.
