FYI...

Battle of Stalingrad has been "released"... however, for whatever reason they've decided to incorporate a completely out-of-place unlock system requiring you to flight many hours offline to get all of the modifications and skins for your aircraft.

If you were planning on purchasing, you may want to consider that first.

It's still an amazing sim, but if you're getting it purely for the multiplayer, you will have to put in some time to get all of the different load outs.

Talk about snatching defeat right from the jaws of victory.  They had SO much interest whipped up in this game, and it was looking SO fantastic, until the Black Monday, when they announced tablet game like "unlocks" LOCKED into the game, both multiplayer and single campaign.  You think the 12 hour thing was heated here?  Holy effballs, there was blood in the streets at their website, and SimHQ as well.

Whatever possessed them, we'll never know.  But it's kicked their behinds in the sales department from many accounts.

I'm not a fan of their sales model on Rise of Flight, either. Hell, you have to spend extra money just to get a full set of gauges for the Nieuport 28!

Yeah, No. I have maybe one night a week to fly. Just a few hours really. I'd rather jump into AH and fly the airplane I want rather then play stupid stuff. I dont have time for more IL2 idiocy.

I definitely wouldn't have spent $100 investing in one of the worst design decisions ever.

That is what has SO many up in arms.  Absolutely NOTHING was mentioned about playstation unlocks hampering the ability to fly stuff, particularly in the multiplayer, when they were asking for backers.  It was a huge surprise when this policy was announced just shortly before launch, well into the backers early access program, in fact, right near the end of it.  Had I put in 100$ and then been given such a hugely lame "surprise" I wouldn't like it either.  I was never into the IL2 thing, I bought Il2 BoB for 10$ on steam sale just to try out the TF mod, which isn't too bad for a 10$ game, but to spend 100$ and get the unlock thing, especially as a backer and - well not being lied to per se, but absolutely being given a feature that is such a large factor without having been told about it until right at the end after investing already.....

It would be on order of Star Citizen right now taking in the millions of dollars from folks, and then making an announcement right before the official launch that you can't fly the 150$ ship you bought until you progress through about 50 hours of gameplay and unlocks to access it.  Ya, that would have me angry, for sure.

Zack :old: (your new name, no more 1234), you won't regret getting Elite.  Plus being a Brit, you're supporting your fellow countrymen.  A lot of Brits are into the game, I know Flossy and her +1 are both really into it, plus I've run into many in various forums and such from the UK.  Great, great game, I'm liking it more than Star Citizen (for now).  I've tried, and tried...and tried, to get into EvE, but it's never stuck.  Hopefully Elite will be as great as I think it'll be over the long term.

This is, I believe, at least part of what it was intended to be... but the almost 100% negative feedback on the decision should have been a clue.

I would like for AH3 to have some sort of AI training path to augment our human-based training corps.  However, that concept should be an option not an unlock. 

I bought into IL2:BoB before release and I vowed, afterwards, to be more discerning about 'investing' in the unproven.  While I hated it until recently (new computer and the TF mods), I like the optional training path that was included.

Like you and I am mystified by the business drivers that would lead to this 'surprise' decision.  -1 all the way.  It's un-buyable because of the unlock path.
