American League Playoff Baseball
« on: October 06, 2014, 03:38:43 PM »
If you're a baseball fan and you haven't watched the playoffs between the Orioles and the Tigers and the Royals vs. the LA Angels

you've missed some very good games.  Extra innings, timely pinch hitting with the game on the line, bunting, yes bunting at the right

time,  just great baseball.  Well managed games!  I wonder at Vegas what the odds would be in April, that the Royals would be facing

the Orioles for the AL championship?  Just spectacular baseball with teams with lower payrolls playing.  That's why I love baseball.

Offseason speculation Headlines.....Tigers spend 300 million on bullpen.  That is the only disappointment I had.  I held my head when the

Tigers had to go to the pen. Immediate headache.  Ugly to say the least.  But all in all great playoff baseball!

I was glad to see the Royals advance.  They've paid their dues.

I hope they win it all.

TBH, aside from anyone in Baltimore and DC (and the handful of bitter Expos fans), I don't think anyone REALLY cares all that much about the Beltway Series. Sure, the media will try to spin it into something, but they'll make it out to be bigger than it is.

News:  Hosmer and several other Royals made it known through public media, that in appreciation to the Royals fans, that at a local Pub
Called McFaddens (spelling) they would be paying for drinks for one hour.  All were invited.  An estimated 500 showed up and Hosmer
and two other Royal players split up a tab of 15,000 dollars.

          Class to say the least.

Ending News, just my humble opinions:

Cardinals are the best organization in baseball and have been so for many years.  Ever notice how they don't miss a beat when players like Pujols
and Fresse aren't on the Roster?  Their front office is second to none.  Year after year they are in the hunt.  St. Louis is the best baseball town
in the United States.  Incredible fans.  (This coming from a die hard Indians fan for almost 60 years.)  Very hard to admit this, but after all I am
a baseball fan.

How can we explain Clayton Kershaw?  Best regular season pitcher in baseball but blows up in the playoffs?
Dodgers are going to pitch him on three days rest.  We'll see how this works out.  I personally don't like this idea.

Ever notice (recently) that a large number of huge salaried teams aren't making the Fall Classic?  When ownership pays
200 million dollar salaries they aren't paying just to make the playoffs.  They are paying to win it all!
This is why I love the Royals and Cardinals.  They build with an occasional trade or free agent signing.

I am hoping for a Cardinal-Royal matchup in the series.  Baseball lovers dream World series.

I'd love to see Cardinals/Royals for a chance to wash the Denkinger out of our mouths.

No but the noise at the stadiums will be amazing. Attendence will probably break a record there every single day.

Happy for Royals fans. A huge 'Thank You' to the California/Los Angeles/Anaheim/Southland Angels for taking Wilson and Hamilton off our hands.  :neener:
