Just finished watching the entire season that was released yesterday. Fantastic stuff.
It's incredible to me to think where Netflix was just a handful of years ago, a mail order DVD company that sent out PITA junk mail to me every 2 weeks. Then, it became "the" thing to do to waste time on the net, a great collection of old and new TV shows and Movies, all streaming instantly in HD at your fingertips.
Then, in the last couple of years, they really got into producing their own stuff, much in the way AMC did, after years of playing old movies with 500 commercials and then coming out with Breaking Bad and Walking Dead et al.
Netflix has really shot the moon IMO with the last few in house productions, again, it amazes me how rapidly they developed the capability of making their own programs, and not just regular stuff, really, really great stuff in league with HBO and all the heavy hitters. House of Cards, that women's jail one (not my thing, but the missus loves that crap), and now Marco Polo.
Marco Polo: Highly recommended, some great history built into a great story with superb scope and cinematography. It reminds me of Rome from HBO in many ways, less humor, but everything else amped up instead. It's far from my favorite era or region of history, but that's great IMO, as it's been BTDT in terms of all the other programs recently because of this, and Macro Polo's adapted story here is very well done.
I've been reading that Netflix is about to ink the deal to bring Stargate: Universe, back from the dead, and develop the rest of that abbreviated/cancelled storyline for release in 2015 sometime. I hope they use the same people they've used when producing House of Cards or Marco Polo, as it's been excellent quality entertainment so far.
