Why don't we get credit during special events

I have killed a lot of P40C's. some on Dec 7th and at least one in a SEC event. Yet my achievements say I still need to kill one ( I'm guessing in the MA)

So shouldn't historical events count also for things?

They do allow people to kill their own squaddies or "shady" characters in EW/MW that just so happen to up obscure planes, rarely seen in LW.
