That's not true at all. The best energy is hidden energy, could be used in any manner of ways it does not have to be vertical at all... Badboy's famous annoying luftburry would disagree.

Being a strict vertical energy fighter makes you as one trick pony as they get. And just flat boring. Boring irks me.
