Flew the whole scenario, no pauses, stutters, game exited cleanly - good to go.

Checked event logs, no more instances of that error either (didnt expect there to be, but wanted to check in case I missed something)

Hey Wurz,

Did you do a clean install or just reinstall over AH? I have tried to reinstall over the existing AH but am still experiencing the problem.

If i have to do a clean instal what files can I back up to save the time of setting everything back up?

Did a reinstall over the game - if your going to do a clean install, save your settings, sounds, skins, sights etc first - then once installed, put them back where you found them (saves a lot of time regrabbing skins, resetting controllers etc)

Not 100% sure it is fixed to be honest - could be that whatever causes the problem didnt occur in the scenario. Guess I'll find out tomorrow in the mains - assuming I get my honey do list done.

Thanks Wurz,

I saved my settings, skins etc… and did a clean install, and this did not help.

I also thought about what I am running now that I didn’t in the past years, EVGA PrecisionX 16 is a program I use to monitor my video cards temps etc... I’m sure some of you know about this program.

I turned EVGA PrecisionX 16 off and the game exited fine, so now I am on to something.

After playing with several settings it seemed to be the ‘Hardware Polling Period’ I had it set to 1000ms, after setting it to 2000ms AH exits some of the time but still hangs most times.

A setting of 5000ms seems to work better but still having issues, after searching is seems a lot of others are having issues with the latest version of EVGA PrecisionX 16 after version 4.2.1.

Without PrecisionX running the game runs flawlessly, never once had an issue.

However, I do not want to run without PrecisionX in fear of overheating my card, the Auto fan control keeps it right at 70c, when polling is increased the temps are not checked as often.

But at least I have some clue where to look for answers.

A quick update, running MSI Afterburner I have no issues at all, opened and closed the game a dozen times, even after short flights, and no game startup crash.

MSI Afterburner looks and acts a lot like PecisionX except for the interface skins, I hope I am fixed for the long haul, if I have another hang I'll report back.

I wanted to resubscribe after a long time again and decided to test my stick before subscribing. The stick worked fine but AH crashed every time I tried to use the hat switch for views.

I've never run into this kind of problem with AH before.

That dont make any sense. you got your controllers plugged directly into the usb on the computer, or on a hub? If you use the keypad, does it still crash?

Yes it crashes just by switching pad views. If I use mouse to zoom around, no problem. I think it must be graphics driver related.

Could be - tried replicating this, no luck. When viewing films I get a distinct pause when switching views using the keypad (I use trackir, so I dont have views mapped on my joystick at all) but no crash.

If you have an extra monitor, maybe you could run process monitor (gives a more win 8 sorta view in task manager) and see if there is anything interfering or bogging down - has to be on your machine, otherwise the boards would be swamped with complaints about this one.

Anything in the event viewer that could prove helpful?

I haven't given it further thought, getting AH to work is not my nr 1 priority. Other games work fine. I plan to update my gaming box in the near future and probably the problem will go away.
