Flench, be really careful about to whom you hire on with over there.  I do speak from experience about this.  Now, while I myself have never applied for that, I did know a guy once who took Haliburton's offer of 120k yr.  not bad money for 2002.    but somebody who was supposed to do a job didn't do it thoroughly and the end result was my buddy losing both legs and his left arm.  He lived but they only paid his remaining contract.  BTW he an IED that the EOD guys were supposed to have "cleared" so that the trucks could run from the gulf to the refineries in "safety".

Just an FYI bro......check them out before you take the check.    :cheers:

  P.S.  also don't forget......those people really don't like us for some reason.

You couldn't pay me enough to go to Iraq without a few thousand highly trained and well armed friends.  There is a ZERO PERCENT recovery rate for isolated personnel in Iraq in the last 15 years.  Zero percent.  As in not one isolated person, civilian or military, was recovered alive after capture.

Add to that the totally freakshow approach to torturing/killing captives that is part of ISIL core doctrine, and $150 grand per month isn't enough.  Not even close.  Find and watch the unedited Jordanian pilot "execution" video if you still think its a good idea.

I refuse to watch any "execution" video at all . I have seen too much blood and gut's in my time so I don't need to watch it on video .

Assuming it's fuel trucks you could just light yourself on fire and save yourself the long flight.

should be mostly oil and box work but still dangerous enough to warrant extra caution

I read on Truckers forum about this jobs but 100-150k/year !!....not month;
  for this $$ doesn't worth the risk; any company driver can make 40-70k/year here; over  100k/year independent with your own truck ,depends what and where you are pulling ; I'm pulling dry van but, i've seen specialized oversize loads posted from Texas to Alberta oilfield  paying over 10-20,000$;

How much did that Syrian pilot they burned alive make?  Whatever it was...it wasn't enough.  Yea, that was Syria but Iraq is no better.

The pilot was Jordanian military, so you could say pride in his position as defender of his nation was a significant portion of his compensation.  While he knew what he was getting into when he signed up, he arguably got just about the worst case scenario out of it.  But "we" (military pilots of all nations) know that's a possibility when we sign up.

A civilian contractor in it for the money though...  For me the money alone isn't even close to being a good enough reason to put myself in that sort of situation.  I'd risk a lot of things for the experience but the chance to make a few bucks by voluntarily putting myself "over there" isn't one of those things.

 like I said earlier....had a friend who jumped on the offer and almost paid for it with his life.   still not convinced in a non-war zone that you're actually safe.  and on that note you're not really safe here at home either.  what with hi-jackers, robbers in the truck stops, prostitutes,  I could go on but I don't wanna scare ya outta the truck totally........ :grin:
