IMO HTC needs to change that stance as a company. Some skins NEED to be removed. Especially when they are 100% inaccurate (the black P-38 comes to mind) or new info comes out to negate their eligability (the black P-40 turned out to be a squadron hack with new info later on), and some just glossed over the background of the skin to get it past review dishonestly (IMO) when it shouldn't have in the first place.
I can list half a dozen skins that need outright removal from the game due to being training or non-combat skins that never saw any fighting at all.
However, there are also skins that just don't fit anymore. For example, before the HurrII was redone I had a Hurr1 skin that was really based on a Hurr2A plane in WW2. It would never have been appropriate with 4x20mm on our in-game Hurr2c, so I put it on the -I instead. That worked, for what we had at the time. However, when they revamped the Hurr2, we got 3 weapons options and NOW, all of a sudden, putting that skin on the in-game Hurr1 is a bad idea and inaccurate. In this case, it is GOOD when skins get wiped. It gives folks a chance to start over, reassess where skins belong, if they're valid, etc.
I think HTC needs to just say "We're sorry, but this skin does not meet our current standards" or "We may rotate it back in the future" or something to the equivalent of "deal with it" to those that complain about losing their favorite skin.
