Not one of mine but it was funny...well to me and the other bystanders too...anyway....


I used to work behind a bar for kicks and watching people slowly get drunk is very funny....anyway...one night there was a guy who was just being an obnoxious prique...not really a problem..had many of them as where i worked pumped on the weekends and was frequented by full of themselves rich kids... anyway...he got a bit too crude to one of the female tenders (happened to like her too) so that was it..over the bar I went.... grabbed him dragged him to the door...next thing two of his mates are there also getting all bolshy...Candy man was on the door (always had a lollypop in his gob supplied by all the ladies) so he sorted the two mates out whilst I passed the guy I had onto the other bouncer....

Then he started...the lip was unreal....by this time candyman had the other two out front also...man...alcohol does some strange things to people....these guys decided that candyman was an easy beat down....the guy was about 6'5 and filled a doorway...not fat.. solid mass.... anyway he said to these guys I'll meet you over the road (no scraps outside the bar was the rule) in that carpark (underground carpark).... handsomehunkes went and waited for him.....

Candyman goes over...no one can see anything but all of a sudden there is an almighty crack...and then this unbelievable wailing i'm sor... Thwak...don't hurt me ..sorry sorry.... small amount of scuffling (last guy was running around trying to get away) and then again another whack....

every one who was at the door waiting to get in just stayed on the street listening...we were all cracking up.... Candyman just waltzes back to the door big smile on his face and continues to where he left off...

Im bored on the road...

I actually have only been in 1 bar fight....I used to go to them and look for people who wanted to fight but none wanted  to fista cuff with me...only one stepped up....


but I think a story of prison life is fitting.....

I was sent up at 18.....I was 170lbs and 6 ft and absolutely full of hatred...


I was in pop about 6 days when I heard a giant of a man was asking about me....

that is never a good thing....I had a very serious piece of steel and was more then willing to use it.....I was very aware of my surroundings and didnt let anyone get a jump on me...

one day I hear this man is coming up to my cell..... I figure now is the time to make everyone aware I was not a fish...


I lay down on my bunk like I am reading and have my right arm under my pillow with my shank in hand...to get to my head this person has to reach for me while his face will be right at my hand level....

in walks a 300lb guy...he looked exactly like one of the old Samoan wrestlers...like a friggen caveman...


if I was a crack head I woulda jumped on him right then and there.... and started stabbing him.....I just waited to see what he would do....he has to reach out to grab me....I am rushing with adrenaline and my arm is like a steel spring waiting for any movement towards me...

he asks " you Paul Fields?" I am I respond he asks....."you know Dawn Coleman?"

I was so tense I couldn't think of who that was I ask "who" he re-says the name...

I realize he is speaking about my cousin....I say "ya she is my cousin"  he says..."well she wants me to look out for you while you are here"

takes me a second or two  I say..."that's why you are looking for me?" yup he says...

so I sit up and place the shank next to me...it is a wicked piece of steel......

his eyes widen as he looks at it...back at me...back to the shank...back at me...and says "ya you will be fine"

he had no clue how close he came to dieing that day.....

Well my opinion of bar fighters, and Ive probably had to respond to thousands of them in the last 30 years, is about the same as it is of people who brag about beating people up on the internet.

over 30.....in one year......1981....none were started by me either.  was offered a job as a bouncer for the summer....great venue....900 seats.....was a top tier bar with top touring bands at the time.  no idea how I survived any of it.

Well not exactly, now I remember one that was started by me when I told some door bouncer off saying what are you looking at or something to that effect when he was looking at my girl at the time... he put his hands on me first tho

I had anger issues, the other fights were backing up buddies, there is nothing you can do when all hell breaks loose and you don't know if your going to get popped or not, I guess i should've ran home lol

Actually I have to confess I did start a bar fight once..  I was with my ex-girl who I was insanely jealous about.. as we were walking out of the place unbeknownst to me some dude (the door bouncer) is looking her way, I can't even say staring... but regardless I get up in his grill and say "wtf are you looking" at or something to that effect, I was pissed that night.  Well he pushes me and I'm swinging at him right after... Immediately I'm swarmed and almost crushed to death by a team of huge bouncers... guess who spends the night in lockup.... Definitely a learning experience for a very angry young man at the time...

Had few of those front ringside fights but mostly when I was in high-school.  House parties are kinda thugish where I grew up. If anyone in Arizona in Phoenix by Trevor Browne and maryvale HS. So not the greatest of neighborhoods. Best one I saw guy pulls a screwdriver (dnt know from where ) other guy pulls off his belt. But the belt had a big metal beltbuckle. Guy with screwdriver got screwed lol
