yes, once you reach the adequate patch level win7 will spam you about upgrading, I'm pretty it can be disabled thos with some tinkering.<snip>
No, you are talking about the small update which places an ICON in the tray which allows you to apply for the Windows 10 update.
This is completely different.
Microsoft is downloading the Windows 10 update to ANY computer which has "Automatic Updates" enabled. That update is about 3.5GB is size. Once that download is done, they do not install it. They issue tests against your hardware to make sure it is all supported in Windows 10, then they harass you about updating to Windows 10 each time you boot.
Example:
User A does not want Windows 10 and never installed the update which would prompt him to upgrade to Windows 10, but
User A has "
Automatic Updates" enabled on his computer.
User A continues to use his computer while Microsoft slips a Windows 10 update onto his computer, without his knowledge. After a few days
User A starts getting a boot prompt asking him to update to Windows 10.
I am still trying to find information on how to clean that mess up. In the meantime, I would strongly suggest anyone who does not want his/her computer to be updated to Windows 10 to disable "Automatic Updates" as soon as you can.
