Well I guess the "body parts missing in Iraq and Afghanistan" were very small body parts.

And how does a guy you give a GTX275 to, after his sad tale of combat woe, to replace a 9800 forget a year later when you put a GTX580 up for sale saying, "it should beat the pants out of my 9800". Answer? He sold the 275 I gave him on E-bay and never donated to the Vet charity I asked him to.

Would you forget you had a much better video card in YOUR computer that someone gave you? Or forget your talking to the same guy who gave it to you? I should really post the PMs for a good laugh but as a rule I dont post PMs. Pity, an honest man could have gotten that card.

I had let it all go until hearing this mercenary BS. Maybe he'll chopper into South America and fight aliens.

BTW for those who want to know most of these contractor outfits, in fact all that I know, are pretty much scam outfits who charge you big $$ just to apply, or charge you big $$ for training they say you need just to apply, or somehow get your $$ and end up never offering you a job. Or its a crap job.

In short most private security contractor jobs are a scam in some way cause theres no end to soldier wannabe's, or Vets, looking for easy money and a chance to make up more BS war stories. The only "real" ex-operator I know who became a PVT contractor made a good deal of $$ but had nothing good to say about it and has serious PTS issues nobody but him is paying for.

I wouldnt believe anyone who even used the word "mercenary". At best the only one who would is some poor sucker about to lose a lot of money, "Yaknow the kind that boasts about losing body parts in foreign wars". :D

Btw honestly you are not contributing in anyway to anything by rambling on. If he wants to do a contracting job then let him.

Umm, excuse me, but that is the biggest load of outright bullsh- I have ever seen someone say about me.  How frikkin DARE you.  Your video card statements are also pure BS!!!   EbaY??!!  I've never been on Ebay!  Ever!!  How frikkin dare you.  I would smack the living shi'ite out of you right now if I could.  I've never lied to you or anyone else in this game.  For what?!?  Oh, and the reason I used the word "merc" in the title is because my original title with "private security contractor" wouldn't fit in my original title, and it was a half-joke to use the word "merc".  You really have your sweet nerve with all the outright lies you just told about me. Dick.

And and few of you will have to excuse me for posting about the first job I'm excited about in years.  How stupid of me.  I won't make the same mistake again.

I've accepted a job with a private security contractor called Tier1 Tactical Solutions.
 :rock

USRanger: I am both happy and sad to hear about your new job.  I do wish you well and a safe adventure.

A while ago I read a post that you made that really stopped me in my tracks.  It was, (and is), one of the few posts I have seen here that is well written and thought provoking.  (Yes, typos included. Good writing is not about good spelling or grammar!). Clearly, someone who thinks about their life experiences and then expresses them in the manner that you did is a thoughtful and decent person.

I would be surprised if you and I agreed about much of anything, (maybe we do, I don’t know), but I feel that if anyone can be counted on to do the right thing when it matters, it will be you.

Stay safe.  Go in Peace, but stay prepared.

Thank you Sys, and everyone else for the well wishes.  I really appreciate it.  I'm very excited.  Since coming home, I've been stuck in factory work, because that's all that's in my area, and I absolutely cannot stand doing the same thing all day, every day.  Plus, child support rapes me, so I barely make enough to survive, much less buy anything new, so this new job is a real blessing.  Again, thank you all.

Those hardcore anxiety drugs I've been on have been an absolute nightmare (klonopin).  They never told me that they are EXTREMELY addictive & that withdrawals from them are as bad as heroin, but last much, much longer.  Quitting cold turkey can lead to permanent seizure or even death.  A guy in a Michigan jail died a week or so ago from the cops not giving him this awful drug that he was prescribed also.  Stevie Nicks of Fleetwood Mac had to go into detox for 45 days to get off them.  She said beating her years-long cocaine habit was absolutely nothing compared to Klonopin withdrawals.  For the last 6 weeks I've been weening myself off them.  I'm tired of being a slave to a pill.  It has been pure hell.  Instead of going into detox/rehab, I did it at home where I felt most comfortable while going through that total hell.  I had to stop working, driving, going out into public, but I believe I've got it licked.  It's been 10 days since my last 1/4 of a pill.  It's an awful awful drug I wish I had never encountered.

And now back to "Dick" since you pretty much outright called me a liar, which is a huge pet peev of mine, so I'm far from done with you.  Check this out "Dick":

Looks like whoever I sold it to on Ebay (seriously?!?) just rocketed it right back to me for this post.  I will gladly do the same for you once you tell me which orifice of yours you'd like me to insert it.  Go ahead and post the PM conversation you brought up.  I have nothing to hide.  There's nothing even special about it.  You posted you had a card to give away.  Since I can't afford new stuff for my pc the last few years, I inquired about it.  I told you I had a 9800GT.  You then reminded me that awhile back, you had sent me the 275, to which I replied "You're right!  I forgot.  Oops.  Sorry. :o "  Ya see, with working my butt off and having four daughters involved in everything under the sun, time on my computer is a very small fraction of my life.  I don't obsess about its specs, or what is inside of it.  It's called I simply forgot for a day what card was inside it.  It's called being human.  My bad.  I will go stand on the corner with a sign around my neck in shame, since you still seem so worried about it after gawd knows how much time.  How sweet petty.  Like I said, you can gladly have it back.  I've lost any & all respect for you after these bs allegations and don't want anything from you "Dick".  I didn't even get your post in this thread about "How's the 9800" when I read it until today.  My gawd, what a petty thing to obsess over.  Get a life.

Thank you cpxxx for posting their web site.  I was waiting to post it, because they are in the process of updating & revamping it.  Much has changed since they first created it.  My first time Googling for the site, I also noticed that other company using the same name, and thought "What the heck?" :lol  I believe one is called Tier1 and one is called Tier 1.  I'll make a point of saying something when I talk to them on the phone tonight.

Thank you all again for the well wishes, except for Dick and his unwarranted smear campaign that I don't understand and has nothing to do with this subject.  I won't be sharing anything else about my life on this bbs anymore, because obviously some people like to twist things around to try to make people look bad for their own sick enjoyment.  I have learned my lesson.  I've been around here so long, I got comfortable with talking about my life to you guys. 99% of you are great people that I like talking with.  It was 100% until today.  Lesson learned.  I won't be back to this thread after this, because I'll be damned if I let one person enrage me so much in something I was very proud of and was super excited about.

Thanks all. :salute

Saying that the entire PMC situation is one of "scam and woe and guys left without $ and PTSD" isn't telling the entire story as well.  There are 40 to 50 thousand contractors working in just Afghanistan alone in the last few years.  I know dozens if not hundreds of guys who have the exact opposite things to say regarding the work in the PMC field - good schedule, good $, good lifestyle, and so on.  I was fortunate to be involved back in 2003 prior to anyone even knowing that PMCs existed, so perhaps my experience is from "the good years", but I still know many that are still working from back in those days, and although the money isn't quite as good as it was in the beginning, it's still solid work.  I've worked for 4 different PMCs and have no regrets at all.  A good friend I worked at Globe Risk with started his own company in fact.  He went from a broke x soldier sleeping on my couch living on Wendies value menu items for food, to living on a multi million dollar yacht in Toronto's harbor, and driving 6 figure sports cars.  I don't think he was scammed, nor has any $ or PTSD related regrets.  Tundra Security, he employed over 10,000 at one point, and was the largest PMC operating in Afghanistan at one point, and has a huge and growing maritime security division, as well as working all over the globe in every sector from canine, PSD, celebrity protection, and so on.

It's not all doom and gloom, although I'm sure some have been scammed by fly by night crappy companies, but a little research before getting involved goes a long way.  There is at least as many decent reputable companies as there are garbage ones.  With the tens of thousands of security contractors working right now, there simply must be.

US Ranger, I feel bad now. Back in the day when the pay was better I looked at going out to the mid east and making  a few dollars. I think that day is gone now and frankly the whole operation is sewn up with a few operators. I looked up klonepin as you mention and am now worried about how it affects you. According to my googling it's to prevent panic attacks.

If it hasn't worked for you then you have to stop taking it but as you say it's a nightmare. If you get off it you have to confront the reason it was prescribed in the first place.

But you have to face up to the reality that you have problems that need to be resolved. I have no idea what your experiences have been. I can imagine but only you can explain. None of us can understand but only you can tell us.  I say that but of course other vets do understand. Which is the attraction of your new job. We who have never been there cannot understand.

But we can try. I for one think your idea of becoming a contractor might work. I hope it does but you really do need to go there clear headed without something like klonepin

Really wish you the best.

Everything now days is labeled to cure something that it wasn't prescribed for.   :headscratch:

Anyhow Ranger,

You don't need to say a word.  Anyone who that matters has put the negative bull crap in this thread on FULL IGNORE.  If your daughters back you on this, that is all the confidence needed (PERIOD).

I don't have any of the skill set that you do, so take care so I don't have to fly anywhere and crack some skulls.  :salute

If 1/2 of what you told me in PMs is true,  what in Hell would make you post something like this...

I've accepted a job with a private security contractor called Tier1 Tactical Solutions.  It just so happens, my childhood friend is the CEO, so I've been being actively recruited lately.  I wanted to sign on, but needed to talk to my four daughters first, ages 20 to 4.  So as of tonight, it's a done deal.  I told them I'm in.  The guys I'll be working with are outstanding and very welcoming.  They are mostly ex-marines, but I won't hold that against em. I'm hoping that if I bust my butt, and sign up for all the more dangerous assignments, I'll be able to move up the ranks within the company, and eventually lead my own deployment team.  Here are some of the "jobs" that I will be taking part in:

Bragging about becoming a merc? Ive just heard to many braggarts and Liars in my life, BS artists talking about fighting and killing and getting messed up. Im a little fragged from over 3 decades of this crap, we average more people shot then Baghdad does.

But I was wrong to call you out over that card. All I can do is eat my own crap and apologize for that. Wrong is wrong, I hope thats enough but thats up to you. I dont know you personally so I have no right to call you a thief.

That was cool of you to apologize for your wrong but what I cannot forgive is you acting like you know what we go through when overseas. POS like you who do nothing but sit at home and have nothing to worry about try and criticize my fellow service men. You have no right to talk about anything this man has done in his military career I dont give a flying diddly if your "Friend" was in. You never were. I'm worried for you, as a fellow vet with full blown PTSD I  hope you get  some help.  You may want to reread some of your posts and think about what Klonopin is used for:

Clonazepam, sold under the brand name Klonopin among others, is a medication used to prevent and treat seizures, panic disorder, and for the movement disorder known as akathisia.[3] It is a tranquilizer known as a benzodiazepine. It is taken by mouth.[3] It begins having an effect within an hour and lasts between six and twelve hours.[2]

Common side effects include sleepiness, poor coordination, and agitation. It may increase risk of suicide. Long term use may result in tolerance, dependence, and withdrawal symptoms if stopped.[3] Dependence occurs in one third of people who take clonazepam for longer than four weeks.[4] If used during pregnancy it may result in harm to the baby.[3] It binds to GABAA receptors and increases the effect of the neurotransmitter GABA.[4]

I go to a Vet group weekly and see a VA shrink as often as I need to.  I turned down all mind altering drugs so I never had that monkey on my back.  But just in some of your  responses here I'm not so sure putting a weapon in your hands is the best thing for either you or your daughters.  Think about it.
