Game locks up when mic is keyed
« on: October 02, 2015, 04:20:50 PM »
I think I may have asked this a few years ago, but I couldn't find the thread.  Every time I start the game up after the PC has been off, when I key the mic for the first time the game freezes, and I have to hit ctrl-alt-del to get the task manager up, and then I have to stop the process to get the game to close.  Sometimes that will happen two or three evolutions in a row.

Anyone recall a fix for this, or a cause?

Usually means there is more than one active sound device in the system and Windows is trying to open the wrong one for recording.

Thanks Skuzzy.  I went into control panel/sounds and sure enough I had two microphones set up.  I disabled one, and the problem seems to have gone away.  Game hasn't locked up.   :aok
