Okay watching video

I got all of the way to the end and it told me that advanced is covered in a diff video  :x

So I'm trying to find that..

can't find that so I'm gonna wing it.

I have suggested training to the newb and got no response so far. Thank you for the offer. I'll keep trying.

I don't think Skuzzy made the second one yet.

This shows the advanced settings page if you haven't seen it. Note the flight controls tab on the left for the full instructions.

If you watch your aircraft control surfaces move as you move your stick you'll see that the rudder moves slower than your controller.
This means that quick rudder reversals may not register as full deflections so rudder input should not be too quick. Don't blame the stick, it's in the code.

When you're very fast the ailerons will have limited and slower movement from the higher air pressure.

rgr thanks

The advanced stick video is on hold until we get AH3 all figured out as all the videos are going to have to be redone for AH3.

Okay yes I found the advanced area which was on the mapping controller and selected the rudder input and that allowed me to make adjustments.  So I made some and tested and made some more and tested.

I think what I'm seeing is when I try to suddenly aim at something and I use the twist, the nose tends to wag back and forth before it settles down where I pointed it to. Which is fine if the object can't move.  The same if I twist and then just release it, it just wags a bit before it gets back to center.

I'm not sure these adjustment will fix that.  Or if they will, how to do that. I don't want to dampen overall movement because I don't want to have to move the stick a lot to get a response.   If I'm constantly trying to aim at something and using the twist, sometimes it will wag back and forth badly the whole time I'm trying to aim.  wag = like a dogs tail.

I need a wag adjustment. Is there anything that can do that without reducing my stick control so I can still have full range of movement?

You might want to do some scaling. There's several ways to do it, every one is correct for someone. A linear scaling means that every move gives an equal response - does that make sense? I mean, if you tilt your stick 10% of its potential, the corresponding flying surface movement will be 10% of its potential. However, you can set the scaling in steps, meaning that in the middle a 10% movement will only have like a 5% effect. For continuity, either set the sliders in a linear pattern slanted from your desired middle action to the top in the right corner, or in an exponential curve if you so wish.

I've got an older system by today's standards that still runs the game well by my standards.

Neither deadband, nor damping will inhibit full range motion of any control surface.  They just modify how they get there.

Okay I was able to borrow some rudder pedals and that seems to be the way. Very smooth with zero wag,  just awkward using my feet.

So I'd recommend pedals to whomever suffers from this.  Saitek Pro Pedals are the ones that I tried.  So i have a purchase to make :)

Thanks to everyone for helping me. I'll be checking out those other videos too.

I think the wag, some people refer to it as nose bounce, is caused by the flight model physics. You disrupt the aircraft stability with control input and the momentum causes the wag. If you are flying with the controls near centered and have a deadband, crossing the deadband can cause you to over-control because for an instant there is no response to your input so you add more.  Grabbing a shot tends to cause bounce, smooth flying should give you a stable shot.

The rudder pedals will help.  :aok

That wag is exactly my dilema.  It is very noticeable with the 190's.  Why oh why did my trusty old saitek have to give up the ghost.......

The new stick is getting there, but I may need therapy.  Trying to groove a new stick and unlearn years of muscle memory is a daunting task.

Try a loose grip. Think smooth. Stop scowling.  :D

Exactly I'm trying to fly the 190 A8 and i'ts all over the place. You can either fly it with like just your thumb and pointer finger and forget rudder OR get some pedals is my thoughts.

I feel your pain, still trying to get it back after like a decade off and the hardware isn't being cooperative.

Try the A5? It's a nicer ride than the A8. Lighter machines guns but you still have the 20mm.

I haven't tried it yet, I'm still stuck on the A8's nostalgic value.

I'm sure I'll check it out at some point, I'm trying to fly all of them (except the P38) to see what they can do so I'll know how to  kill them in my A8.

I also need to setup a poster for training that shows how to fight each plane versus the P51 for my newb. So I'll have to check them all out.
