"control mode x selected" messages

Please let me turn them off.  I use two control modes to have a second set of views.  So I am constantly changing modes, and the "mode x selected" messages fill 80 percent of my text buffer.

You have the option to turn off all system message in the text box "edit settings". Mouse over the text box and right click near the top of the box.

But I don't think OP was asking for ALL system messages, just that particular one.

I would mind being able to screen certain system messages.
