LTVs in groups of 3
« on: January 01, 2016, 01:51:25 PM »
Spawn troop or supply carrying LTVs in groups of 3 like bombers. Inasmuch as LTVs are often little more then sitting ducks to aircraft. This makes sense. They should still carry only the normal amount of troops or sups alloted to ope LVT but a defender would have to kill all 3.

Groups of 3 would also be more aesthetically pleasing when viewed from the air looking more like real landing forces coming in in waves

They would probably have a function to avoid objects tagged as collidable.

Hitech has said that if he made it so a single player could bring more than the 10 troops, then it would take more than 10 troops to take a base. Your talking 30 with 3 LVTs.

Also, your taking pretty much the same chance when you take a goon or M3. None of them are very survivable.

how can you carry 3.333333 troops per LVT? The original load out on buffs isn't spread out over the three planes.

Make it only the LVT4, then the LVT2 troop carrier can nestle in with the trio....

Or only one of the LVT2 will have troops while the other two will be a distraction and MG's slaved to the manned troop carrying leader when he fires. If your troop carrying LVT2 dies being the only one that can be manned, the AI survivors keep going as a distraction and stop moving when they hit the beach. Then when you re-spawn to try again, the illusion of a large initiative spreads out before the defenders. You can be given multiple attempts as a trio but, some capped limit of times if you still have AI on the beach and water. Then only the single LVT2 with troops.

Then if you survive and drive to the maproom, your two AI just follow you with MG slaved to yours. If you die, they stop and become distraction targets.

Could the machine guns of all 3 vehicles fire together like a bomber formation?

If you could mix loads in formations you could have one with troops and two with supplies with vehicles or C-47s.

The only thing that would change would be the number of LTVs. The number troops and supplies would remain exactly as it is.

Get ashore with all 3 LTVs and you have ten troops. Get 2 of your LTVs destroyed and have one left. You have...ten troops.

That would be part of the general idea. Would certainly make things more interesting
