player staged missions
« on: January 21, 2016, 05:48:25 PM »
I uploaded 2 missions and they show up in the mission menu for the Splash arena and show me as the creator.  However, no missions show up in the menu for a player custom arena ndisles terrain even if show missions for all terrains is checked.  A fix in the future?

Player missions and custom arenas could be used for a customized 1v1 or multiple versus  multiple.  Again, any fix for the bomber formation problem in staged missions?

Thanks much, the player staged missions show up now.  The bomber formations when a player is assigned plane 1 not acting like the ones in the main arena continues to be a problem when we are practicing for things like scenario missions or offline practice.  Please keep that fix in mind for some future update.

I have no idea what you are referring to.

In staged missions when the player is assigned plane 1 in the 3 plane bomber formation, the two drones do not follow the salvo and delay from the plane number 1 (the player plane).  They drop at the same time as the player, but they always drop all ords at the default delay regardless of the delay and salvo setting from the player.  I am not sure if the guns act the same or not, that is the drones fire at the same target as the player like in the main arena.  The drones in staged missions are independent AI rather than unassigned drones (if that is the correct term) like the MA.  The AI drones do follow the number 1 plane like the Main Arena.

I did try one of my staged missions in a custom arena.  There seems to be a problem with plane assignment.  In the populate section, although I assign myself to a plane such as the P51, I spawn in another plane.  I am not sure which one, but I don't think it is even one of the plane types in the mission.  I do spawn in at the right place and see the other AI planes I put in the mission at the right place, but it puts me in the wrong plane.

Hope this helps.

Are you sure you are assigning yourself? I.E. you are no longer in the far left column?

Also the drones are nothing like the drones you get  with out using the missions system.

They simply drop when the lead of the flight drops and are not meant to drop the same as your settings.

Yes, it does show me moving to the correct column beside the correct plane and checkmarks if I remember correctly.  It also showed me as the number 1 plane in the bottom right corner of the populate window.

I understand the AI drones are different than the main arena.  That is the problem.  If you are practicing hitting ground or sea targets for maximum effect, you can not do it in staged missions because the drop will be entirely different than the MA unless your drop is at maximum salvo and minimum delay.  I had seen on previous posts there had been an attempt at fixing that in AHII so I thought it was a well known problem.  It has caused numerous problems doing squad practice for scenarios.  From my view point, the best fix would be to make the drones like the MA drones any time a player is assigned to plane 1 in the bomber formation in staged missions.

The wrong plane thing appears to be a mission error since it only does it one of them, the naval mission.  Those that are interested, there are 2 staged missions, one involving attacking a land base with heavy fighters and the other spawns you over an enemy fleet.  Both ndisles terrain.   I lost the .mis file because I did an uninstall on one of the last updates so I can't check that, but the planes appear to be the correct choice when I down load the mission and run it off line.  In a custom arena, if you choose a p51, it puts you in a tbm and if you choose a p38, it puts you in P47d40.  I don't know the other combinations.

Mustng I have learned the hard way in the past to carefully list out the issues and make sure they get straight to the point with all the resources made available at the time of complaint. Not just for the busy HiTech but for those who float around and test these sort of things too.

Best thing for this is to FILM and attach mission copies. And patience is a virtue.

I'll poke around this week

Ok, to describe the problem, practicing hitting cargo ships, 1000 lbs to sink, with Bostons with 4 500 lb bombs per plane.  Ships are in convoy and we hope to hit more than one.  Staged missions let us warp to the correct place and alt in the minimum time and allows a squad to practice together in custom arena.  Now the problem.   Set salvo to one and the lead plane with the player in it releases 1 bomb, but the 2 drones release 4 each.  The next drop your only option is to hit release multiple times since the drones have no more ords and of course if the drop is modeled correctly for 3 planes, each plane will hit in a different location.  Result is neither the first drop nor subsequent drops will be anything like in the main arena.  Obviously the problem is the same hitting towns, air fields etc.  Any time you don't want to drop all ords at minimum salvo, it is a problem.  If this is not considered a problem worth solving, let me know and I won't bring it up anymore.

Another example of a problem because bomber drones not following player salvo and delay like the bomber formations in the main arena.  Practicing for scenario using B25C.  We would like to maximize factory hits.  We can't do it because the drones drop all ords at first drop at .05 delay.  Am I the only one who considers this a problem?

Is this going to be treated as a problem or have you decided not to make any changes to fix the bomber problem in staged missions?
