I CTD'ed as well, I hadn't hit the ground yet before the CTD.  I relogged and it said the AI had crashed.

I have no idea if it was a coincidence or not, but I was messing with engine on and off to see how far away I could hear his engine.  I was trying to understand, it seems the enemy engines come in at about 30% volume when you start hearing them instead of a smooth fade in from nothing.

I switched off my engine, tried to switch it back on, it didn't seem to be coming back on.  I tried hitting E a couple times with no result I could see/hear, then CTD.

In beta, Melee tab, CraterMA.  C25.  Every time I try to join C25, get disco'd.  I can do anything else, can't join c25.

Sorry mates.  Will try to reproduce, but beta arenas have change slightly.  Different maps and other changes.  Let me see what I can do to identify it all... hint to hitech, when recording films, not that hard to include in meta content of film what map, arena, etc. a recording is coming from....

Do you get disconnected or does the program crash?  I've had the program crash on several occasions trying to move to a field.

Every thing I try to join C25 (knights), Melee tab, Greebo Crater MA map, just updated to latest greatest beta version... every time try to join C25 on map, (yes, I'm knight and C25 knight cv) I get CTD.  ;-)  Just reporting the info

Dohhh! Somehow got it into my head that it was an image format and was trying to open it with a graphics program.

When firing from a SB.  Some of the SB have trees close.  If you want to fire on a CV that's close to your base an in range of an SB, those trees pose a problem.  Likewise, if those trees pose a problem when you try to defend from a SB, if a CV tries to attack a SB, and a tree is in the way of a round from an 8" shell, ..... problem.  From a defensive point of view not a problem.  From an offensive view, if you are in the SB, that's a big problem.   You can't fire on a CV because the trees keep blocking your shots.

Program crashes to desktop.  CTD.  No disco, just crash

Couple more notes:

I've been getting kills on tanks despite the hit sprite being small.  I thought (perhaps erroneously) that a small hit sprite meant either ricochet or no significant damage done.  That changed?

The siren and voice base warning sounds still play at normal volume despite Sound, Advanced, "Warnings" being set (and reset) to 0.

Windows XP is unique in how it handles DirectX graphics.  It is easier to run out of resources with Windows XP than with any other operating system.  It keeps two copies of all resources required for the video card.  One in system RAM and the other in video RAM.  A new scheme was adopted with Vista and later operating systems.

Try this, just as an experiment.  Reduce the maximum texture size to 1024.  Disable environment mapping, and shadows.  See if the draw results are different.

No different, still black polys in the far distance.  GPU does use less RAM though (something like 0.6G vs 1G).

Since reading the original post I have checked all of CraterMA's shore batteries and raised any low-lying ones to a minimum of 400 feet. Where necessary I changed the ground texture and steepened the slope in front of them to clear any trees that were blocking the FOV. Once I have finished doing some other stuff I will upload a revised version of the terrain.

One of the did you know messages during log in to beta says to download high res package.  I assume beta and latter additions will not have a high res download.

Might be confusing to newbies trying beta.

Was in CrateMA flying around. Is it me, or are the aircraft guns more deadly now? Just seems that the 20mm and 50 cal. are causing more damage and leading to more kills.  :D

Captured V-base in TT, and while setting there in my M3 fired a few rounds form the pintel gun. Noticed that I was firing 1 round based on the ammo counter but the sound was for 3 rounds, or so it seemed to me. :headscratch:
