Make sure you set the "Maximum Texture Size" in the "Video Settings" to 1024, or so as well.
Our base video card is the NVidia 9800GTX which was released in November of 2007. The 260 video card is actually about the same performance level, but it does have more dedicated video RAM.
If you want to be able to run with more eye candy enabled, then yes, you are going to need a better video card.
Also note, Beta 13 has a
video memory bug which could hurt performance of computers with video cards which only have 1GB of video RAM.
