1 hour ago, from his mother:
Update: Progress remains slow. Leonard is still struggling to control his movements, and while he appears interested when I play audio messages to him or when someone is saying something interesting, it's hard to tell how much he's taking in or understanding.
There has been something of a change of plan - Leonard's going to be moved onto a specialist rehab ward here in Liverpool when a bed becomes available so is unlikely to be moved back to the island (as originally planned) in the near future. However we've been warned that it'll probably be six months or more before we have a long term prognosis regarding his recovery and the extent of any permanent damage. I will update when I have any significant news.

Good she shouldn't continue to do more frequent updates when this is a long process.
I hope he continues to improve and you will post any news as you see it.

Thanks for keeping us posted I'll keep him in my prayers.   :pray

It seems that she's giving updates weekly. I hate to sound pessimistic, but it doesn't look hopeful that we'll get our buddy back any time soon, if at all.
He took one hell of a shot to the head, evidently. It's heartbreaking, it really is. :pray

My hope is that in the near future there will be stem-cell therapies that work for brain injury and strokes.  There are some very good results in the R&D stages.

I am one who doesn't know F77 very well, but in my dealings with him I was impressed by how he views the world, motorcycles, and by his love for the Isle of Man.

Knowing what I do about Leonard, he might be just a little mystified at the well wishes and concern being put in this thread.  He wouldn't think he deserved it.

But he does.

This community rocks.  Keep the prayers going up.

Update: The rehab seems to be really helping. Leonard is far more alert and aware than he was when I last saw him (I work full time so at the moment that's once a week). He's been interested in messages sent to him, and more than that - he went straight for my laptop keyboard, and after a lot of effort and several false starts was able to give me his Facebook password. We went through some of his messages and saw some of his new feed.

Honestly, this is the first clear evidence I've seen that he's fully aware and has good memories of what happened before the crash. It's only in the last few days that any of us have seen that.

So, since my parents aren't the most tech-savvy people in the world, don't expect to see Leonard online often, and it takes a lot of effort to type even one word, so don't expect to get messages from him - but you might occasionally see him online!
