Modify puffy ack tracking
« on: July 31, 2016, 07:41:48 AM »
When playing a film of flying in puffy ack at 8x it looks like a swarm of bees following plane around perfectly no matter how violently it maneuvers.

Wish: please add appropriate lag to puffy ack tracking that represents the time for the ack to travel from origin to predicted position of target and then have ack hit the predicted position of target.

This would give players a chance to avoid it and get away.

Thank You

+1 as well, it would take the grenades roughly 1 sec/1000ft so hitting a maneuvering plane at 20k should be nearly impossible.

The ack doesn't shoot at the predicted target position. The ack shoots at a box around the target position. The shots aren't going to the same position. That's why they look like a swarm instead of a line. Maneuvering makes the box bigger so you're less likely to get hit.

Then shouldn't the inverse be true:  Flying straight (aka level bombers) would get a beatdown?

Bombers can take more damage than fighters.

FLS do you have an agenda here? Because you're mumbling bs trying to impress everybody and trying to sound like I don't know what I'm talking about.

Or do you not get what we're asking for?

Bombers can take more damage than fighters.

Their cockpit glass is better than a fighter's?   Plenty of pilot wounds and insta-towers for yours truly over the years, with no kill credit.  And Lusche found a bug that makes the drones invincible.  Seriously, buff formations should get hammered flying straight at the CV, but that only happens from manned 5" guns.  Fighters on the other hand, can be in a maneuvering fight far from the boat but get whacked by the magic wand of auto puffy.

I'm guessing Drane really has no idea of how to evade puffy !!
Oh ya, it'll you get sometimes but if one knows how to, more often
than not it can be evaded  :aok

Other then avoiding it completely I don't think there is any difference in maneuvering or flying straight and level

I made 3 pony raids on cv last night.  I moved left and right diving from about 12k was able to deliver bombs on cruiser. flying over it with no damage on 2 out of 3.  also made a buff raid on fleet ships with no damage.
