How ironic.

I wish for a player to be able to swap to the team with the lowest number of players instantly.

Off hours sees some dramatic swings.   Bish 15 knights 2 rooks 5,   then 1 hour later could be  20 bish 12 knights  7 rooks etc.

I believe this will help when things are super quiet and encourage players to switch from the high side and alleviate Bish whines about ENY being sky high forcing them to log when they should carry on playing but with more equal team numbers.

For trial period only lets say <60 players online this is enforced which will be a few hours a day.
My ammo last for 6 Lancasters, or one Yak3.

see this is the funny part about the wish.  we have a 12 hour switch time.  and yet according to bruv the number swings dramatically from hour to hour.  with a fricking 12 hour switch.

what do you think it's gonna happen with a 1 hour switch.  this is the point that I was trying to make to junky.  you guys dont think your wishes thru.  what do you think it's gonna happen during prime time. if the numbers swing so crazy during slow times if your wish is granted.

anyway good luck with your wish.

Semp - perhaps you should think your responses through before posting.

  • We currently have a 6 hour switch time.  It used to be 12 but Hitech changed it in response to changing conditions within the community.
  • The swings in numbers in the OFF HOURS times are due to people joining and leaving the game.  Because there are so few players on during these times when 3 or 4 people join a side it causes an imbalance.  During prime time they would not be noticed.
  • The request is that this be implemented in the OFF HOURS.  i.e. when the arena player numbers fall below xxx, or even a particular time frame within the OFF HOURS.  No one is suggesting it is required in prime time - yet.

Please take the time to understand the problem and then take the time to think through a meaningful contribution.

Thanks

Could someone explain to me what makes "wildly fluctuating numbers" such a bad thing?   The numbers can change drastically during the day anyway.  If you could switch to the low numbered side, that would help balance the numbers.  The people that switched and soon became the high numbered side could switch again to re-balance the numbers.  If they didn't switch, ENY would come into play.  Well it would, if ENY started kicking in at a smaller numbers imbalance.

If HTC really wants balanced sides, players should be allowed to make that happen, by joining the low numbered side.
ENY seems to encourage side switching, while the wait time discourages it.  They work against each other.

Here is where Hitech explained the switch limits.

Not asking for a 1 hour switch time back semp....asking to open switching to the low number side on command during "off hour periods"....EXAMPLE of this is the Mid war arena, where you can switch on command....these guys want to balance the side or fight the green horde that is rolling undefended bases...again please come with an argument against that...we have been saying what Fess said the entire time.

He is the only one with the access to the data so we must take his word for it that's he has interpreted it correctly.  It is possible that he did not or that there were other things at play.  But let's assume he did correctly interpret the data.  Then, we must assume that the data will still hold true two years later with lower player numbers.

The only thing we know for certain is he doesn't have data for what a 1 (or whatever) hour switch would be with current numbers.

I am very surprised by his commentary because for the 18 some odd years I've been playing these games I've been under the impression that people who will switch sides willy nilly are few and far between.  I also see fewer and fewer of us on.  I wonder if they compile data of % of players who switch sides several times a month.  I would be curious to see how many it is.

I agree Vudak, times change. People have been telling me that every time I bring up anything that we did in the game years ago..... "times change, you better change with them!" Thats why I wonder if HTC has been out of touch with what is going on in game. Numbers and stats can only tell part of the picture. Log in a few times a day a SEE what is going on.

Take a break from coading for a week. Grab a shade, log in for and hour, take a break for an hour and then log in again. Do this all day everyday for a week. We have already been waiting for years for the update, a week more wont hurt. It may even give them ideas for what they should/could add to AH3 to help with the changed times we have now.

Maybe they do look in and don't really see anything wrong. Maybe they already have some plans in place to address issues people are complaining about. I wish I knew what they were planning, if anything. I know it would ease my mind.

thank you, finally one hell of an answer.

It's merely a summary of what's been discussed accordantly for four pages. Your woeful comprehension is the issue here not the wish itself. Hitech's point is refering to a round the clock change to switching times and is irrelevant to this discussion. Also no one's asking for a one hour limit - that won't fix anything.

Consider this wish an emergency measure proposed by those who are actually experiencing and dealing with this new and observably encroaching situation. I'm pretty bloody-minded but when a good percentage of your gameplay is spent chasing vanishing darbars and trapped on a side with a handful of players you could actually fight against then its getting silly to remain online.

What I don't get is how you could simultaneously have so many people who refuse to switch chess pieces driving ENY through the roof, and so many people who want to switch sides that it would cause terrible imbalances if the side switch time was lower.

How the heck does THAT work?
