Graphics not clear for me
« on: August 30, 2016, 09:59:06 PM »
The game is playable but the graphics are somewhat rough on my end, especially for GV's and trees.

I'm not sure how to improve this as I have the settings maxed out and have tried different settings in the game.

My setup is:

Phenom 2 X4 965 Processor
GTX 980 Graphics card
1080P monitor
Video settings in game are set at 1920 x 1080
Max textures 4096

Any suggestions are appreciated.

Man FGBullet, with that graphics card ( the same one I have) you should be doing great. Do you have the latest driver? A new one came out today.

Make sure match video settings with your monitor's native resolution.

Thanks Jimmy. I downloaded the latest driver last night. I think it helped some but the images still look more edgy than AH2. Must be something on my end. See attachment.

Thanks for the help guys. I've been considering purchasing a larger monitor, something with a better resolution than 1080. Just wish I knew if it would help.

See attachment of screen shot.

That may be the limitations of zoom at the distance you are focused on. You will have to get physically closer to see the hairs on the gnat's nose sitting on top of the flag pole.

Thanks Challenge. What has me confused is the images are more defined in AHII.

Amazon sent me information on the latest ASUS UHD 28" last night. You will want to consider the move carefully though, because the increased resolution will come with additional processing. I love the view at 4k, and even higher, but it is expensive on available processing. I don't really think it will help to clear things up significantly, either.

Have you posted a recent DXdiag?

It looks like you have Post-Processing AA turned off? and perhaps you have the texture sizes down also?

Texture sizes are in the first clipboard after AHIII starts under "Video Settings." With a 980 you should be able to use 1024 texture size, and you can even try 2048, or 4096 to see if it clears up. I usually limit that to 2048 online, and use 4096 for videos, but I also have an SLI setup (3-way).

You can also use the Nvidia Control Panel to augment the appearance, but you want to get it running very well as application controlled before you do that. It may be a bit much for a single card.

Can you post a shot of your graphics detail panel in the game?

I think you would get better performance if you turned Env off, moved the sliders to about halfway. You could probably turn everything on the left flyout back on, including post lighting (that's where the AA is). You can still disable clutter in flight if you like. If your frames are two low with all that on, then disabling shadows should give most of anything you lose back, but I think your FPS will hit 45-50 if you set it like I suggested.

I'm not really up on AMD CPUs, but the game is mostly GPU-centric now.

Hope this helps!
