Gun camera footage with audio
« on: July 19, 2001, 10:54:00 AM »
Here it is.

*LINK REMOVED*

It ain't pretty. The enhanced full screen version that runs in DOS is giving me a runtime error #200. I'll track that down as you can see details much more clearly (not that you might want to). I clipped this from a much longer trail of film. The copyright is owned by Time-Life, so don't expect it to be on the web very long.

I've seen that (and heard it before). You';re right. Even some of the P-47 action in the documentary/movie "Operation Strangle" had sound now that I recall.

Nothing I'd model the sounds in a game with but you were right Voss.

 Westy

(and I always flinch when I see that pilot  :( Same with the B17 gunners you know are dead in the long guncam from the 110G that slowly took apart a B17)

It's more of a mechanical feeling I get watching that gun cam than a sorrow.

Then when I think about me or someone I know in his place, that's when you realise what that particular pilot had to have been going through.

The runtime error I referred to is a self-viewing flic problem. Our gaming systems have become too fast for some of the older DOS utilities (buildsv.exe in this case). The video I am referring too would not have had sound in any case, but it did allow for a gamma corrected full screen viewing of this very same video segment (seen above). It comes in at just over 2Megs. If anyone has an older machine (I tested this on a K6-2 500Mhz machine and it played it, so anything slower would work), and would like to see the full screen version, simply post a request.

Yes, it is possible for computers to be too fast!  :)
