New Minimum Requirements
« on: September 12, 2016, 01:37:44 PM »
Here is what we are thinking the new minimum requirements will be for Aces High III.

CPU:  2.4Ghz dual core, or better
OS: Windows XP/7/8/8.1/10
System RAM: 4GB
Video card: NVidia 9800GTX+ performance level, or better
Video card dedicated RAM: 1024MB for Windows XP, 512MB for Windows 7 or later.
Input: Mouse
Internet Connection: 28.8 modem, or better
Optional: Microphone, Speakers, Headset, Joystick, TrackIR, XBox Controller, Oculus Rift (Windows 7, or later required), HTC Vive (Windows 7, or later required)

If you have a system close to the above, we would like to hear about the experience.

CPU: yep
OS: yep
System RAM: we should put System RAM minimum requirements at 8Gb - it's 2016 after all and considering the lower GPU, the 8Gb ram would help offset.
Video card: nVidia 550GTX+, again because the 9800GTX architecture is almost 7 years old.
Video card dedicated RAM: yep
Input: Mouse - joystick should be minimum no? :P
Option: SPEAKERS and Microphone or headphones with integrated mic. , and yep.

ghi,

The other day when you were on there were lots of micro pauses that were either network or game related rather than specific to the individual.  Many of us were getting them.  Keep tweaking the graphics.  I turned off reflections, post lighting effects and disabled clutter in flight.  Then it is a case of moving the sliders to a point where you get a balance of the performance you want.

Also, I find the textures you select from the splash screen where you set your FOV also has a big impact.  I run at 2048 on that screen but I used to run at 512 in AH2 some time ago just to be sure to get the frame rates I wanted.

I would try it with "enviroment mapping" to none, and drop the texture size a couple notches and see how it runs then. You might even be able to add a few things back in.

I'll try lower texture when I get home, never  changed it , was working ok for AH2.

I had mine at 4096 might want to tune that down to 2048 or 1024.

Turn the environment map to none.

Also eat a cheeseburger when you get home.  :old:

For your card, set the texture to 512 and as others have mentioned, set the Environmental slider to 0.  AH3 is more GPU (video card) intensive than AH2 was (AH2 was CPU intensive versus GPU).

Wouldn't it be better to have that as the monitor viewing minimum requirements (perhaps have a suggested max monitor resolution for that card as well) and then have a separate set of VR minimum requirements?

Running the pre release of AH3 and checking FPS should give you a good idea.
