I would be very curious to know if the lockup issues went away once you dumped the HDMI connection and disabled those drivers (very important step).
Ok I flew into some good combat and got shot and did some shooting etc.. NO Crash with HDMI disabled in windows sound manager and analog audio out from the computer direct so that answers that I guess. I'll be flying the DX 11 with this setup.

P.S. I like the changes it looks real good and it's running very smooth on this machine.
Also with almost everything maxed out in the video settings it's never used 2 GB of video but rides at ~1 gb most of the time.

Good and bad news in that.

Glad that it seems to have solved your issues.  Bad that HDMI audio seems to be an issue.  Not much we can do to fix that as it is all driver related.  Still,...have to figure out how to reproduce it here.

Thank you for the help.

Well I figured it wouldn't be good news ideally it wouldn't matter but as you say it's a driver issue, I can get on with flying now, it just took a couple of extra days to get the plane dusted off again. :-)

My system would do a hard lock up...the only way out of the game was to hold the power button and completely shut off the computer. After unplugging the HDMI monitor cable and initiating a restart, the game started, and ran as it did prior to the update with a frame rate of around 25. I have used both this monitor and my regular TV's-both Dynex brands; 1 is a 42" screen, the other is a 26" (which has been my usual monitor for several years) in the past with success. I have also run a couple of shows successfully using streaming video from the laptop since this problem arose. So from my standpoint, the issue is with the last game patch.
Skuzzy-I have posted my dxdiag file in an earlier post.
Aaron-while i appreciate your input, please don't hijack my thread, as I don't know to whom Skuzzy is responding. Thank you.

You guys running HDMI audio.  What is your Windows speaker configuration set to?  Does it match what is in the game?

By the way jb1st, we encourage everyone to post experiences, with like issues, in the same threads.  Makes it much easier to keep track of.

Sorry it came off that way jb1st I would never Hijack a thread but in this unique case I think it was justified as we are trying to move on this as fast as possible sometimes etiquett takes a back seat I guess.

Skuzzy I found that simply changing the windows sound settings to run plugged in analog audio didn't seem to stop the crashing it was resolved only when I right clicked on the HD/HDMI audio and selected disable restarted and crash goes away. I'm testing here doing some driver swapping if I come up with anything I'll post it.

Oh when I was running Hdmi I was just using the default settings whatever those are.

Ok so I was able to extract the drivers using 7-zip or winrar and I keept looking for a change in the HD drivers and it appears that when the 10xx series were introduced there was a fairly big change as far as file sizes were concerened I haven't bothered looking at the details with the hex editor but this is slash and burn trouble shooting here so I now have the latest Nvidia driver once again but with old Nvidia HD audio drivers in the new install new ones removed I used DDU to make it clean so far everything is working now to see if it's still chashing in game dx 11 here we go.

I figure a picture leaves less chance of error. I don't know why I have 6 Digital Display Audio devices (unless a new one is create when I update AMD drivers?).  This image is AFTER I disabled the active Digital Display Audio device.  I'm not using HDMI audio, it must install and enable itself when I run the drivers update.   I'll watch for that next time.

If I understand right, the only reason you'd need HDMI audio drivers enabled is if you are running a TV with an HDMI connection as your monitor?

Not even then. Only if you need to hear your computer sounds through the TV speakers. Youtube videos come into mind. Even then a better sound reproduction could be achieved by using external speakers on the sides of the screen, connected to the sound card.

Well the operation was a sucess I can now leave my HDMI enabled just like before and get the latest video and physex drivers with a quick mod. I'd imagine it may work for ATI's if they made similar changes while AH 3 was being developed.
The HD driver I ended up using was one that was used in november last year I really think the changes they made for the 10xx series broke it for Nvidia in regards to AH 3, all other software seems OK with the changes.

P.S. This ONLY pertains to NVIDIA drivers, the newer ones have 1.3.34.0015 for the HD audio driver which causes crash for me, the one I'm now using is 1.3.34.0004.

Also I think both Nvidia and AMD/ATI install HD audio drivers if the card has a hdmi port if you go to custom install in nvidia you can choose to not install some drivers but by default they install everything and toss in a kitchen sink on top.

"not plugged in" wasn't good enough for me, mine didn't quit crashing until I DISABLED them.

That confirms it could be driver related.  Now, the only question left is, did FMOD change something which exacerbated the problem?  We did update the FMOD software in this last patch.

Is there a way to test that?can I load a older version of AH 3 before the patch? I guess I'll just start flying while I still have time lol. Got to get the cob webs off but having fun already.
