Looking for suggestions before committing

Some of you might have seen my 'Prepping for Black Friday' thread posted some time ago.

My parts list looks pretty much the same, however I'm looking for a little input. Currently, I have a pretty sweet 1070 card selected, but I'm wondering if what I'm thinking for the cpu+motherboard would cause issues with bottlenecking on newer games at higher settings?

CPU :    AMD FX-4350 4.2GHz Quad-Core Processor
Mobo :  MSI 970 GAMING ATX AM3+ Motherboard
Card :  MSI GeForce GTX 1070 8GB Video Card

I'm about to start buying the cheaper parts such as the case and waiting for holiday deals on the more expensive parts.

Thoughts on bottlenecking? Part selection? My slow acquisition method? 

... Then again, I keep seeing the Digital Storm Vanquish 5 model for 1,500 and think the extra cost might be worth the hassle of not building my first PC.. I just might wait and see about deals on that rig, because I am lazy

pcpartspicker is usually pretty good about listing out incompatibilities.   Yours looks ok, other than a possible bios update thing with the mobo.

It surely should flow plenty of air with all those fans.

Just got my Digital storm delivered this week.  Love it. Absolutely smokes it playing AH3. No other games to compare tho as AH is all I play.

I just purchased two of these cases from NewEgg, for a couple builds I'm doing.
If a Mid-Tower is alright with you, this is a pretty good deal.
There was a $10.00 rebate on each of them too, So they only cost me $49.00 a piece. 
Good airflow.  My FX-8350 idles at 27 deg. C

That's not a bad temp.  My Phenom 965 idles at 43 C.

These cases are pretty big for a Mid-Tower.
I have an EVGA GTX 970 FTW and it fits with plenty of room to spare.

*EDIT*  I just checked the dimensions for both cards and yes the 1070 will fit.

My I5 6600K overclocked to 4.2 Ghz idles at 28C and maxes at 60C under full load.

BTW I have a 970 in a Corsair mid-size case and it fits with room to spare.

I have the Corsair Spec 02 series case housing the wife's components and I agree.......have good airflow capability and have ample room for 240mm radiators if desired in addition to housing large\long vid cards....all in a microATX size case (difference from Spec 03 but design is identical).

Thinking very hard on getting myself a Spec02 case and swap my components out of my CM Storm Scout.....................

I get about the same numbers with a I7 6700K 4000 and a EVGA 1070SC. I run a EVGA Z170 motherboard and Corsair Vengence 32GB ram  hooked up to a Dell S2716DG 144Hz monitor. Gsync is enabled and Vsync off. With Vsync on I get a sold 143fps with Vsync off it can run up to 200fps depending on altitude and terrain. I do run a little higher temps on the high end, it can run up to 75C the highest I've seen so far. I can run the game maxed out no problem. I run the I7 6700K overclocked to 4400. I run this all in a old Antec 900 case with a Corsair 850 power supply

Nothing wrong with those parts EskimoJoe, 1070 is a good card, and it's hard to find a "bad" MB/CPU combo with which to run it.  I did exactly what you're up to back in 2012, right around Black Friday times, I spent a lot of time searching and sniping good deals.  That was when the 680 was the fastest card available, and I picked up 2 for SLI, and built a 2011 3930k system, and saved about 700$ on the entire system, 2700$ retail for $1980 total, by getting black Friday and other super deals online.  The C70 Corsair case for example which was retail $160CDN back then I got for $50 at 1201AM on black Friday, just an example of one of many deals I picked off.

So, roll with your plan, you'll be able to save a lot of $, and a 1070 system will run pretty much everything out there and for the forseeable future, and give you the capability to get into VR with a card/system able to push it decently, if you decide to go the VR route, which IMO in a couple years will be not really an option, but more of a necessity.  We have a 1070 in one of our desktop gaming systems, and it easily is as fast as the previous Titan/980ti card it replaced in the system it is in (6700k with a medium o/c).  The 1080s and Pascal Titan we have in other systems IS faster, but not decisively so, especially for non VR LCD gaming, and in AH3, IMO the 1070 is the best option right now for bang/$.

NO, I had a GTX9800 in a mid tower. Half inch to spare. If you get a Gigabyte  GTX1070g1 its 12" long.
do not guess, put a tape measure to your case.......

The 1070 is a great card. It generates very little heat compared to the 970 and the fans, on auto, barely spin most of the time the card stays so cool. I didnt mess with any over clocking cause my games run so well as it is. At $399 its a best buy. My 970 used to actually heat up the room and I'd have to take the top off the box to cool it more while this 1070, at full settings, doesnt even get the box top hot.
