ISP blocked Error 4?
« on: October 24, 2016, 07:52:22 PM »
Hello,

I am overseas for work and an avid Aces High player.  My first month out here I had no issues logging on and playing aces high!  Now I get error 4 contact XXX-XXX-XXXX.  I am in the desert and would prefer not to have to incur roaming charges on my cell.  I logged on using an VPN and it worked fine but I don't want to have to do that to play!  Here is my I use Babtel internet, my SSID:
AUAB-WIFI
Protocol:   802.11n
Security type:   Open
Network band:   2.4 GHz
Network channel:   6
IPv4 address:   10.32.32.29
Manufacturer:   Qualcomm Atheros Communications Inc.
Description:   Killer Wireless-n/a/ac 1535 Wireless Network Adapter

An unsecured WiFi?

Lately I've seen a couple and heard about some hacked modems even in what you'd consider very safe neighborhoods where the risk of an unsolicited user might change the settings.

If you can, reset the router to factory defaults. Change the administrator password, set the WiFi security to WPA2 with a strong password. Disable WPS i.e. the push button password negotiating system. If possible, restrict the use for MAC addresses of your known devices only. Then set the DNS to 8.8.8.8 (or one of them if there's several options). As it's Google's DNS server it's well maintained so it mostly works. If you have a separate modem, do the same for it.

In case it's a more public WiFi, contact the administrator and ask him to do the above.

I've got an older system by today's standards that still runs the game well by my standards.

Should be good now.  We do, actively, block open VPN relays.  Just FYI.
