Why is HiTech screwing with my VOX?
« on: December 04, 2016, 07:46:23 PM »
Sometime it works, most times it doesn't.

For the Trolls out there.....

yes, I have updated to current drivers!

yes, my audio works just fine on Team Speak and Ventrillo.

Thank you very much.

Have you tried running a Ping Plot to the server?  VOX uses the UDP protocol.  Once a packet is lost, it is gone forever.  If there is any packet loss showing up in the path to or from (we would check from you end) the server it will interfere with reliable voice comms.

I am noticing some vox transmissions are being cut out also.

Others can hear the vox but for some reason I cant. I see their name light up but no sound. It's intermitten and usually happens when several players are talking together.

I have tried playing vox in sequence and it was no help so I unchecked that option. Seems to happen only on tune-able channel,as I havent noticed it with range. I thought it might be a glitch when range and tune-able channels showed same colour but it has continued since AH3 was launched.

It's intermitten

I hate "intermitten" coms problems.  Us cold weather people know what this is about...

Sorry, Morf, couldn't resist!

I have encountered this problem also, but noticed it on range vox as well.  Sometimes a resetv will work, sometimes it requires logging out and back in.

For those of us playing this game for well over a decade, Aces High is more of a social club. The game just provides the framework. I keep logging in for the people and Pipz was the kind that you keep coming to meet again.

It is indeed strange,I've tried .resetv, logging etc. and none of it helped. I see the players name light up,others hear them but for some reason I dont,if I ask them the repeat I hear them fine.

I thought it might be in the vox queue but it had no effect,I thought it might be 2 players talking at same time causing me not to hear 1 of them but clearly others can hear both. As I said I havent noticed it on range just the tuneable channel, could be a memory leak?? As it seems to happen after a rather lengthy vox transmission.

Did a ping plotter and as suspected, Level 3 in Dallas is involved. Pretty convenient, nothing anybody can do about it. So, the only way to fix it is cancel sub and stop playing. At least as long as Hitech servers are in god forsaken Texas.  :bhead

routes change. As traffic goes up and down, servers drop out they reroute automatically. If loosing vox is what causes you to end your subscription I guess you weren't having any fun any way.

gotta love forum trolls.....

the overhead traffic through Texas is being served by one of the most oversold, worst providers in the country. Level3 in Dallas is going to be losing packets consistently till hell freezes over. They just don't care, so they assume we shouldn't either.

Your right about one thing.....this massively multiplayer game is no fun without being able to communicate using VOX. Probably a safe bet you don't even play much, just troll.

Ive played for over 12 years. Friday nights I get 3-5 hours in and Saturday afternoon/evening I get 8-10 hours in. Nothing like the "good old days" before kids, and far better numbers in the game.

I use to get hit in ny with level3 , but I haven't seen it for a while in my route. I KNOW that the routes change, they can many times a week. But you go ahead and give up.

I dont troll, I try to help. When people don't want help it certainly gets tough tho. I wont mention all the other programs you can use that work well within AH for voice communications because you really don't care enough to try. Good luck, I hear "War Planes" is an awesome game

We have no control over what route a packet takes after it leaves our ISP.  Routes do change.  Yes, I agree, Level 3 is the worst backbone provider on the Internet.  They are also the largest, which is unfortunate.

There is not a major metropolitan city in the U.S. where you could avoid Level 3, 100% of the time.

But, like what was already said, routes change.  This time of year the Internet is always a mess.  Nothing about that is gong to change either.

This thread has degraded to not being helpful, for anyone.
