Strange control issue.
« on: January 13, 2017, 01:13:16 AM »
I just got back after the AH3 update and noticed my X52 doing something weird.  Apparently Combat Trim turns off every time I re-center the stick from a rolling position.  Anybody else have this issue?  Anybody got a fix or should I just git gud?

Are you accidentally engaging auto-level when trying to center your controls?

Does it do it regardless of direction you come at center from?  Do you possibly have a keypress assigned to the center band on one of those axes either in AH or the X52 profiler?

Are you running an X52 profile through its software?  If so try not using the profile and see if the issue persists.  You also might try renaming your settings folder and see if the problem continues.  If it doesn't, it's something to do with your settings and/or profile.  I'd suggest if the above fixes it you just continue on from there and rebuild your settings.

It only does it if i'm centering from the left or the right.  I wouldn't know how to check the profile since it's been a long time since I've done any tinkering.  You have any tips or links that could help me accomplish this?

The quick and dirty way to check if it's the issue would be to rename your settings folder in your AHIII folder, then start the game and launch the plane and see if the problem persists.  If it fixes it, something's up with your AH3 settings.

If it doesn't fix it, do you have the SST software even installed?  If you do, at the bottom right by your clock there will be a small icon that looks like the throttle of the X52.  If it's got a yellow (or green? sorry colorblind) box around it, you have a profile loaded.  Right click on that icon and click on "clear profile" then try running the game again and test to see if that fixes the problem.

If it doesn't have the box around it, you don't need to worry about it.  If it doesn't show there, you don't have the software installed and also don't need to worry about it.

If the above doesn't work, the only other question I have is does your stick have CT mapped to a button?  If it does that might be a hardware issue, but that'd be the last suspect I have until the above two are checked.

Open clipboard map, goto Options, map controls, then select global, scrool down and find "combat trim toggle"  see what is mapped to it! You may have accidentally mapped it to an analog control for the roll axis. If so just unmap it and set a button or key press.

If you have combat trim mapped to a button or hat on the JS,you could have a short causing it to kick off. I would unmap CT and do a test before changing a bunch of stuff!

The fact that it is turning combat trim off would suggest that you have one of the trim controls mapped to the stick.  As soon as you manually trim the plane combat trim is turned off.  Check your trim control settings.

It was an extra input with a trim function in the control options.  Thank you for you help.

I thought so,seen it recently on several players machines! Not sure if it's a mapping mistake or a winblows update changing things.
