S02E01 was epic. I'm also warming up to this Fred Johnson character. I like his conflict resolution methods.

Good news Gman! There are so many directions the story can go, it would be a shame for it to end so soon.
The price on the new book has turned me off a bit, but I'll break down and get it.

I really liked the season 2 opener. Very good! I especially like the actor cast as Bobby Draper. I think they missed the mark a bit with Naomi, physically, but I'm warming to her portrayal. I'm sure it's very difficult to get all of the characters cast to be physically accurate.

Read the books and watched the show. Same opinion on both.

Excellent story and characters ruined by the introduction of the silliness of the ancient alien infection blob takeover driven by corporate greed

Quit about 2/3 way through the first season (felt it was a bit slow for my tastes, and too many simultaneous story lines to give each a proper treatment), but I went ahead and watched the first episode of season two. Much better. I couldn't go back and watch the last few episodes of S1; it's not available on Xfinity's on-demand content, and I don't have Netflix or Amazon Prime. However, thanks to the excellent "Recat" video (awesome!), I was able to dive back in.

Apparently the first 3 or 4 weeks they are showing two episodes at once. I guess I wont be flying those days.

The books were awesome, good character development. I though they have done a decent job on the series, must be hard to choose what to have in the TV show and what to leave out. I highly recommend reading the books, you will understand a lot of the reasons the way people react to stuff on the show.
My 2 cents

Both authors have said they have a 9 or 12 book (12 is the most recent info they've given) story all boarded out and mapped/planned.  So, another 3 or 5 books, at least.  They've also said that due to ratings and how much the execs love the TV production, they plan on a long Game of Thrones like run.  The TV series is just picking up steam too IMO, this season has been fantastic so far, the 2 episode opener, and it's apparently according to those who have seen the first 1/2 or so of the season's shows that are "in the can", it just gets better.  Can't wait, this is the best TV out there right now.

Now that I've binged the current 2 seasons of 'The Man In The High Castle', I'm getting into 'The Expanse.'
