The file names for the 110's skin database have been updated.

Could you please add the bomb rack (ETC500xx.bmp) to the skinnable files for the Bf 110C-4? The problem is that the rack is a permanent fixture on this aircraft in AH, it remains on the aircraft even if you do not select ordnance. I would like to be able to skin subjects that are all-black or have black undersides without this bright blue box attached to the aircraft ruining the effect.

Ok Greebo.  It has been added as a required file for the C4, and optional for the G2.

Thanks for the heads up!

Why is the rack installed without bombs in the first place? There are plenty of historical situations where 110C's did not carry bombs.

According to Waffle, from the research he did, the rack was always installed from the factory, and may have been removed in the field.

Now, whether or not that is correct would be a good thing to debate.

That was the case for the C-4/B - which is what the name in the hangar says it is. But why limit the C model to just the bomber variant when it's most iconic role historically was as a heaver fighter?

Is the bomb rack a needed accessory? - Yes. But it should be just that, an accessory. It's not right to hamper the performance of the plane in the role it will be used in most.

I am going to take a wild guess, but I am thinking the C4, without the bomb rack had a slightly different flight/performance model then the C4/B and we have not researched that yet.  Again, wild guess on my part.

Looks like the C-4/B used the DB 601N engine with almost 75hp more than the regular C-4's DB 601A-1.

There is your answer.  It may not be what you want to hear, but we are not going to just guess at a performance model change.  I think you know that though.

Aside from the engine performance change, the drag change would also have to be considered.
