Track IR...Is it awesome?
« on: February 13, 2017, 09:36:54 PM »
I would use the search function but it's horrible...

So track IR.  Is it as amazing as it looks and is it fairly intuitive to setup?  If you can afford it, is there any reason NOT to buy it?

You will go through some initial adjustment but once you are used to it you will wonder how you ever flew without it.

VR might be an option to consider as well.  I do not have experience of VR as yet.

Not PnP but give it time.  The key is setting it up and getting use to that.

Once you get use to the setup, when you turn your head a little to look back,  your mind will be convinced you are turning fully and looking back although your eyes are still glued to the monitor.

Start off using just the x and y then add in the z then the roll.  Experiment with the curves and the speed slider a lot.

It's some work to set it up, but I would not fly in any computer flight sim without it.

Ordered!  I can't wait to use it, the videos on YouTube look amazing.

Any other out of the box tips are thing you wish you did differently when you first setup yours?

Thanks!

Here are the ones I have collected from the boards. I think there are 14 different profiles in the zip file. Unzip them and drop them into your profiles folder. When you start TrackIR, under profiles you'll have the list. I renamed them to who ever was the donator/builder of the profile.

Unzipped and dragged them into my profile folder.  Open track IR and they haven't populated.  Only see "default", "One:One" & "Smooth".

Any tips?

Do you get any carry over into real life. Like when you check your cars blindspots? I said "roger" to a dentist's receptionist the other day.

Disregard, I found the correct save location.  It has to be through appdata.  Also, the Gw...profile appears to be corrupted.

Glad you got it figured out. I seem to remember Fess or someone saying the folder was in a different place in Win10.

Man this thing is COOL!  Definitely need to do some tweaking, my neck is killing me!

So one issue I am having is my rear view.  If I use hat switch I am able to then move the eye line around to a optimal "check six" location and F10 save, however when I look backwards with the Track IR engaged I am basically face up against the rear headrest.  Any tips?
