Vega I hope will at least be competitive, we all benefit by having AMD close the distance to Intel and Nvidia, as stated, it'll help drop prices, and drive performance. I see nothing so far from the Ryzen 1800x at my local shop that has me willing to switch out any of my recent Intel CPUs, other than perhaps if I needed to save $, which doesn't concern me as much as performance and compatibility/etc. It is a great chip/good deal, and if I had nothing at all I'd considered it seriously though. I hope the same happens with Vega.
I was an early adopter of the 1080, I bought 2 from the first shipment into my city, and have been very happy with both. However, I also got into VR early too, both the Vive/Rift, and SLI doesn't work with any games in VR (yet, other than a couple dorky little games), so I also bought the Titan XP in early Sept last year to have a faster single card GPU for the Rift/Vive, which cost $1600 CDN after tax/shipping/brokerage/etc. Considering the 1080ti looks to be performing in games right alongside the Titan XP - at least - the price of only $100 more than the 1080 was at release is a very fair price IMO. They also aren't charging the $100 scalp job they charged people like me to be early buyers of the "Founders Edition", as I paid that $100 per card more for inferior FE cards (due to the cooling systems) to what came later. I have 2 1080ti pre ordered through my local shop. The 1080s are all dropping in price by $100 or so too, and it's still a very fast card, and will cost only slightly more than the 1070 did when it came out now.
Also, as lame as the nVidia Experience is, I am singed up for it, as they are giving away 108 1080tis on March 7, so check your email if you're registered with nVidia that day, and see if you luck out, as you'll get a card before anyone probably.
