TE Auto Save
« on: April 20, 2017, 03:51:52 PM »
Because I'm using the bulldozer tool for longer than 15 minutes at a stretch on my new terrain, it's become obvious that the auto save is not working. The bulldozer tool will close the TE to the desktop with an error if you pull rapidly out to the edge of the screen and your mouse goes just past. I've post subsequent DMP files in another bug post concerning that. I'm building up and cutting canyons across a 1\3 arc of the map 30 miles deep. Takes longer than 15 minutes to finish one pass with the tool pulling 2mile wide ridges, 15 miles long every 3 miles across that arc face. I lost a block of work due to the issue with touching the mouse to the work space boarder.

I can do the work again, and better the second time due to the first pass practice. What I noticed is I cannot change the time of 15 minutes to 5 minutes for the auto save period unless it only works during the current session. If I close out and reopen the TE, it's back to 15 minutes.

Just noticed now that I setup to renew my ridge line building pass once more that I lost about 60 minutes of work.

Being a three pass process with the bulldozer tool, build the base 4miles wide wall buttress extending into a cut down to the water 30 miles away in one pull. Return and create 1.75-2.0 mile wide pull buttresses 15 miles across the whole arc at the 25,000ft wall starting the butrees pull at 20-22k feet up the wall. Then the last pass cut from 17 miles above the water down in cross hatch patterns to created the random angled water cuts. The 4th pass with the smoothing tool creates the illusion of real world runoff canyons down to the water. At least when I finish this for country 2 and 3, applying a clutter tile to all of it using the elevation tool will take seconds. It over ran into the work space boarder halfway through pass 3 and the 15 minute auto save is not working.

The only save was the manual save I made half way through pass 1 when I got some coffee. Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee, you gotta love the terrain editor. :O
