Dogdirt, I'm jealous!
Our son was stationed at RAF Lakenheath, we visited twice and loved it.
I also endorse a Road Trip to RAF Conningsby to see the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight Visitor's Center, then dash on over to "The Petwood Hotel" at Woodhall Spa and have a Pint at the the Squadron 617 Bar (See:
https://www.petwood.co.uk/about/history) for more details. We stayed there a couple days at The Petwood and it was fun! (Will also educate about the 'Lancstukas' :-) )
Also having a couple Pints at The Eagle Pub in Cambridge is a worthwhile experience.
Waay too many things to visit and see in the UK, but I found those to be particularly rewarding!
Enjoy the trip, hope you get to link up with a few fellow AH III folks while you are there!
