AH suddenly unstable with rift
« on: May 10, 2017, 10:04:44 PM »
Have had no issues up until this point.

now the game starts, and is fine until I actually enter the arena.

as soon as Im in the MA my framerate drops to single digits and the game crashes shortly there after

DCS and elite dangerous work perfectly fine.

Have changed nothing, last time I played AH was 2 days ago, had no issues.

Win10 64
I5 7600K @4.5Ghz
GeForce GTX 1070 8GB
16GB DDR4 mem

I'm completely stumped.

Dont know yet but Im suspecting a nvidia driver update might be the culprit, that is the one this that I have done recently.

Happens if I go to offline practice as well.

Basically it looks like something is crashing the video driver, as my entire screen both on the monitor and rift goes black, the monitor starts to go to sleep then comes back on " aces high has stopped working"

Yes! I noticed as well. For me, it took about 3 minutes for it to equalize with FPS. Its like it takes a while to load up all the graphics. My squad has a Message of the Day that pops up, wasn't able to close it out for about 2 minutes. Even then it was a bit laggy. Then poof, all is well...no wait...minimized to desktop. After that all was fine. Its done that since around last Thursday for me. I just sit in tower and wait for it to get its act together. And yes, even off line for me as well. It started between the last updates for Nvidia. I had one on 2nd this month and last one was yesterday, well that was when I downloaded it anyway.

Which way are you getting into the game?  Through the oculus app or through regular AH?  Try both.

The creators w10 update will drag down your PC as it downloads.

Not hearing good things about the Windows 10 Creators update.

By the way, things change all the time with Windows 10.  You cannot stop that from happening.

No other games or apps are having any issues at all.

I'm starting they game via ah dx11 shortcut.

I'll try a few more things this morning.

EDIT:
I had no idea you could install and launch AH through the oculus app.  That said I have no desire to do either.

I tried to let it "stabilize" but no luck,  I go from 170+ fps while in the menu, to 13-2 when I tower in to the game (offline or online)  and if I just sit there the game eventually crashes within 30 or so seconds.

Is there an *.dmp file in the games "temp" folder?  If there ism and it is a current file, please post it to the bug report forum.

For the game to suddenly act differently, while we have not done anything on our end, means something has changed on your computer.  That is just logical.

Are you using any anti-xxxx programs?  There are a few out there which will, eventually, interfere with the game.

Other games, can also interfere with other games if they install system files.  Just FYI on that one.

By the way, it remains to be seen if a restore in Windows 10 will actually roll back a driver, if Windows 10 has installed the new driver.

I'll look for the dmp file.

I changed the drivers via uninstalling and installing them myself.

I don't trust Windows with anything.

EDIT:

Ok I found the .dmp files in AH/Temp.

But they are close to 50mb in size each.

they cant be read with notpad.

Compress each one into a ZIP file and post it as an attachment in the "Bug Report" forum with an explanation of the problem.

I assume the time stamps in the name of the *.dmp files corresponds with your crashes?

Give us a bit.  HiTech needs to review those and he will get to them as soon as he can catch his breath.
