Once again the 162ndFG "a dedicated allied squad" gets pushed to the axis when regular axis squad, just because of plane selection , gets to fly Allies. This is the second time that this is happen within the last little bit, and my squad along with myself feel that we are taken the hit when it comes to certain squad wishing to swap side because of the selection. I myself put a lot of time and effort into the event, when it comes to getting orders out early, and communicating with other squad on orders and possible tactics.
I work shift work and living in Atlantic Canada FSO doesn't start until midnight my time, and many times I need to be up at 6am to go to work. So I dedicate a lot of my available time to the FSO along with my squad and we sometimes feel that we are being taken advantage of. The squad and some form always seem to make the rankings and not bragging about it, but we practice every Thursday night. You will always see our custom arena open, I download map of the month and we work on bombing runs and target selection, along with what fighter we may be flying.
I just got done work this morning and seen the email, long 12 hour night and I was upset, Done ranting now, as always I will follow orders to the best of our ability, and see you all Friday Night.

Wiser,

Let me see what I can do to adjust this. I did not see a preference e-mail this month from the 162nd. So just appeared that it did't matter. Give me a little time to adjust and make sure your side preference is forwarded for the next FSO.

Thanks...

That whole "dedicated allies or axis" thing has just gotten way out of hand.   When I started FSO there was 1 squad that was so called "dedicated" and even then they went allied when tbm's or sbd's were available, which was fine.  Essentially back then it kind of made them not dedicated in a way.

It's just 1 BIG PITA as I see it, to deal with for a lot of folks, you should have to rotate at least 3 times a year, just to take some scripting and predictability out of FSO.

INMO there should be no guaranteed side or ride.  Only requests.

When I say dedicated Allies that means no matter what allies are given , I always choose allies. I do not bounce around because one side may have the advantage when it comes to choice of rides or objectives just make us look good. We take the good with the bad and trust me we seem to be on the bad side most times, no matter what front we are on. So I do not feel bad about saying a dedicated squad to a particular side and I don't believe we are the only ones.
Also apparently there was an issue with my squad updates not making it to the FSO admin team so there was not any preference shown for my squad, which is being looked into.

VF-17 is based on a real life WW2 USN F4U squadron.  This being the case whenever F4Us are available in FSO, I push very hard for them.  Even so, very rarely do we get them all 3 frames.  That is to be expected.  Other than corsiar setups, we fly pretty much everything, and have fun doing it.  We prefer fighters, but have had some of our more exciting nights in A-20s.  I personally dont thing a squad should be able to stick to any one side all the time.  I dont always get put on the allied side when I request it, so some of the axis squads should move around a bit as well.  Not saying they dont, just saying it can be fun.

I am a dedicated FSO flyer. The standard procedure should be to select your choice of side and ride and accept whatever comes forth. One of the best parts of FSO is getting experiences outside our usual comfort zones. Seems to me that questions and problems with the selections should be sent directly to those involved in the decision, not thrown out for general consumption and discussion or as "reply all" responses to planning emails.

I disagree if it's just for the sake of forcing people to fly something different.  If the numbers need massaging to make it even, sure.  But why would you want to force an allied squad to switch to axis just to make the axis squad fly allied?

Indeed Zoney.

My squad is dedicated Axis. Why, you ask? Because I do not like flying allied planes very much. It's that simple.
