A good read.

http://www.hawking.org.uk/life-in-the-universe.html

Other worlds are out there.  The ability to achieve interstellar travel, not so good.   Everything I have read suggest the SETI project had the highest probability to find other worlds with intelligent life.

The only reason we have not meet any aliens is they just can not get here.

We are the most ancient and advanced beings in the galaxy.

I think any civilization who has advanced far enough to make interstellar travel a reality is going to be too smart to want to land on this rock.

I could see them taking one peek at the goings on here and doing a face palm. "What,...this is what we traveled a million light years for?  It's numpty-ville down there!"

Hopefully, not all of them will find this board.

They're already flying AHXXVII and whining about lines in some views of nearby galaxies, how Xenon Pulse Death Rays ought to be perked, and why cloaking is limited to only 15 min.  :P

Or we can't get "there".

Someone has to be the most advanced.

Always a possibility that earth is.

And that was when it happened: Squa'tront turned to his brother and said... "You know, I bet we could make a zillion zulaks by recording what those crazy monkeys are doing down there and putting it out on the Galactic VR Net".  His brothers' eye lit up as he replied "You are a genius!  We can pop down, pick up a few monkeys to tag and release, but then we install a sense-o-recorder in them using the anal probe and have it transmit the experience of life on the monkey-planet!  We'll be rich!"

I'm sorry to tell you that you've got it all wrong. You're not from Myanus. Go ask your Mom where you popped from, she should know.   :old:

You say that in jest, but it's a definite possibility. We're orbiting one of the older stars with a decent chance at bearing life in the immediate region, and odds of anyone swinging by here drop drastically the further away their home is.

From half war across the galaxy, that stupid plasma ball of ours probably looks pretty unremarkable.

And there's nothing to say aliens necessarily solved their problems better than us. They might have nuked each other the second they heard about Uranium.
